Cajon Pass

Well Thanks Roymac for that info and for making such a good route. I really enjoy messing around with it and will look into getting the addons to it.

I wish I could make a route but all I can do is make scenery and lay some track. I don't know anything about signals and all that other important stuff that goes with it. I would love to make a route for the Buckingham Branch railroad which runs east/west from Dillwyn, Virginia to the James River near Bremo Bluff, Va. They have a website and you can see the route on Google maps or google earth. They service some lumber/wood operations, a mining operation and others in the area. I am going to try to get some good photos of their locos so maybe someone can skin one for me.

Roymac, as you may have read I to downloaded your route. Will you be making the improvements/add ons available? I have already done away with the stick figures and added the animated figures. Great minds......

....good question and I don't have an answer for you yet. I have considered putting the updated version on the DLS but felt the since it was such an old route, there would be tons of stuff (custom content) that would require more work to get then most people would be willing to spend the time to do! I am sure some of it may not even be availble now. When did you downoad the route? What was your experience with the content? Did you have to do a lot of searching for it - the custom stuff I am referring to?

roymac.

This is certainly a great looking route :) and I almost found all non DLS stuff, but, yes there's a but coming on:hehe: , these six elude me.

Hi Jan,

Not sure where to find them but I will check my tainz objectz to see what they are. As rule, if I can't find something from a route that I may have downloaded, I just replace it with something that is available, that I think fits -my guess is you may already have done that.

It looks like you are using dual elevation, aerial flyways, on invisatrack for this screenshot ?

...yes I did...the plane on invisible track. The layout has a small airport from which the plane flys. It circles the route, lands then takes off again. Makes for a different perspective and adds some interest. The 'dual elevation' I am not sure what you mean other than I have designed the terrain to allow for different track heights.

Hi Roymac

Just wanted to say that while this is an older route I have never seen a better use of backdrops. Not once did the backdrops appear to float in air.
Great job.:D

If you lay 2 tracks in the sky, one at say, 200', and the other at say, 400' above the track...2 separate flight paths would be usable...so a plane, could follow another plane, that is following a train...and if these aerial flyways extended for over the entire route, instead of just a takoff and landing...it would provide two whole new ways to view your entire route...from the air, at two separate elevations.

Roymac, I downloaded your route less than two weeks ago and had no problems with any custom items. It was good to go from the start.

Well, if those missing are things that are really unfindable or on sites that don't exist anymore, yes then I put other stuff in place:) , but I always give it one more try first.:hehe:
My main concern is allways that one of those missing kuids is a track type or something else that's critical for using a route.

Cajon Pass is in California. It is where the rails running between Barstow (high desert) and LA comes off the mountain. Just do a google search for Cajon Pass and learn all about it. I am not certain but I believe this route itself is mostly ficticious.

OK yea ill look it up now you mention it ive been to a place in San Diego CA some years ago called El Cajon :)
