buying used Trainz 2010 EE game, boxed?

Hi guys, im completly new in Trainz world and now i have change to buy very cheap used game of Trainz 2010 EE (boxed retail version),
so my question to you guys is can i safely buy it or is there somekind of registration or serial scheme what prevents me using it?

Seller of the game tells me he has once installed it.

On E Bay: it may be a: "New in box" ... but it may be repackaged ... if it has been registered previosly ... you can not register it ... and can not download ... unrtill you buy a virgin authentic copy, or a a FCT.

Seller of the game tells me he has once installed it.

I would ask the seller weather they have registered the serial number on the Auran website.

Make sure you keep prof of the reply if they say no.
Then if they have you can ask for a full refund.

I brought a TC1&2 this way and found the seller to be true.

Even a FCT will not let you download, afaik, you need a valid serial number for trainz (attached to your account profile) in addition.

I'm sure there are legal reasons involved, but I wonder why game distributors don't institute some type of utility that would allow a potential customer to check to see if a serial number has already been registered, perhaps unscrupulous characters (Zato...I'm looking at you!) could abuse such a system, but it's not as if they aren't already anyway...

I did talk to seller via email few times earlier this week, i did understand he saying that it was registered in the game and not website, if that is even possible?

Well it was cheap and he even offered to give my money back if there is problems, so we'll see.

Yes you can install the game on the computer using the serial number without resisting on-line.
