Bumping old threads needs to stop...

To Freightcar2, because if I have time to do a search, I may find a picture of an item I'm interested in. And to make it easier, if/when I post pictures, I usually won't include the signature.

And another thing is although I agree with using existing threads, their is a time when threads (not just picture threads) reach too many pages, although this board does have a search in this thread "thing-a-mij."

I think if you are bumping a thread to ask a question, than PM the person. Don't go back and dig up threads to say, "Nice shot".

Freightcar2, I'm not entirely sure, but I think you asked that question before (& I don't feel well enough to search at the moment). Freightcar2, you can do that by. . . on second thought, I think I'll let him work it out for himself.

(By the way FC2, I hope you're putting school/homework before Trainz.)

When quoting pictures, I do one of the following.
1 - If 1 picture, I delete all pictures but the one, you can do that.
2 - Count down how many pictures then say which one. Someone puts 8 pics, I want to know what is in pic 3 so I post "In picture 3, what..."

If nice shot cannot be used, it should be used in NO threads.

There should not be a problem if anyone bumps a specific thread and/or post … Honestly, what’s the big deal …. Generally speaking just ignored the thread / post. I always feel that if Auran (owners of this forum) does not have an issue with it, then so what …

I bump my threads all the time, and I have been doing that since this forum begin or for that matter since the old forum (now lost forever) began so long ago.

For example: Vulcan, as we all know, does incredible creations, and sometimes his thread has not been bump for months … so what if I or anyone else bumps it, right … ? In fact, I’ve done it many times with his threads, my own, and others threads like Jan’s vegetations thread, Dmdrake building thread, etc I have seen people coming back and asking new questions and even new users asking such questions and/or posting a “thank you for your work” statement in those thread because for them, the threads are new.

I’ve done it with my own thread – I usually upload 50+ items to the download station and then start a new thread introducing such items … a couple of month passes by and then I bump my own thread, and to no surprise I have gotten posts like “wow, I never knew this thread existed with all these items, etc etc” … so again, generally speaking so what … I feel there’s more things to worry about in this world then if a post gets bump – Auran has no problem with it, neither due Mods … life does go on folks!!

Just my 2 cents!

I couldn't agree more.

Not if the owner of the pictures puts "No quoting of pictures permitted" or similar wording.

But anyway this is about posting in existing threads that were made a while ago.

Yes, Big B, I fully agree wit you. The Old Forum had so much info and help on it......and, somewhat "friendlier" Posters too......;)

Quoting of images not needed

^ ^ ^ Does this & this answer your question? Hmm, directly below your post, and I do it for a reason.

PS: I wonder if I can predict the next question from FC2 :hehe:

Is the answer

How do I delete the image from the quote?
Or --- now we see the quoted reply with the image

Dave

Nup, but if I say what question, he'll change it of course, but it relates to the word, just before the "PS:" of my last post!

I'm not sure if I've mentioned this, but posting in existing makes it easier to search, but on the other hand, can end up being too many pages (I've added this because I'm trying to steer the thread back on track.)

** OOPS DOUBLE POST - PRESSED QUOTE INSTEAD OF EDIT **

PS: This is one reason why we should be able to delete our own posts, and I'll add to the PS that when I went to press the button, it showed "Edit/Delete" before I pressed it, so I don't know why this double post happened.
