Building a spur

Can anyone give me directions as to the correct way to run a spur off the main line which has to curve round and pass under the track ?
I've tried three times but allways manage to create too sharp a curve and too steep a gradient, attempts to rectify this have failed.please help someone:o

Derek,

I run my spurs like that with a longer approach so start your approach sooner and adjust the grade so that it's about 1 to 2 percent. One of the problems with running a sloping spur is the ground doesn't match up well so you end up with either floating track or buried track. For this I use retaining walls and the ramps made by mgreen.

Hope this helps.

Hm.

A spur that crosses the main on a steep or a narrow angle?

You can make a lenght of straight track after the turnout. Leave it level and start the gradient later on the curve. This will keep your tracks from floating.
You can then lower the spur to have it at the right high to cross the main.
Get the needed hight, place a straight level track under the main and use the gradient-button to have the gradient look right.

Hm, dunno if this helps you...

This is a single track line which runs out then under the track its just left,on experimenting I found the long sweep didnt look quite right, its the lay of the track running from under the bridge back to ground level where i get problems I can never get the track to stay level and on running driver I find the track looks like a switchback despite having left it level in surveyor:(
