Build 61388 is 1 GB?

Hello again, mates,

A few days ago, I downloaded a patch for Trainz (49922 to 61388), however it takes a very long time to open the file, and installing it takes up too much valuable space on the hard drive. I looked at the file size, and the file is an astonishing 1.82 GB. Why is the file so big, exactly?

The initial game is 6.1gb.
Service Pack 1 is a large patch that has a lot of work to change things, including updating various pieces of content which take up a lot of space in the patch.

No offence, but if 1gb is much space on your HD, you are having a very tiny HD or an old definition of much space ;).

Its not that one ends up after patching with 1.82 GB of extra data, a lot of the extra data REPLACES existing data in one's TS12 when patching to build 61388. The reason this takes so long is, the upgrade patch needs to decompress lots of ja. files, exchange some of these with the new data, then re-compress these again as ja. files.

I am happy now since upgrading my TS12 to 61388, initially I had been against upgrading it at all after reading some of the "horror" story being posted here about TS12 upgrades. Ideally, if one has enough hard disk space, one can leave one version of TS12 patched only to 49922 and install another version of TS12 to upgrade that one to 61388.

Or get and use TS10.
