BTM

No wonder nobody has done a definitve layout of Bristol Temple Meads, it's a real headache!
Talk about different levels, just how many do you want?
That notwithstanding here are a few shots of my work on it so far. It was suggested by Snowhill that I might have a crack at it and I always (well, nearly always!) do what I'm told....

and 2

Still masses more to do, and where do I stop and start, how far out in every direction...??

And I did mail the chap who made the canopy for 06 to ask if he would consider doing one for 04 but I have not had a reply. So if anybody can manage the canopy let me know. I could use an AJS one but the ends aren't quite right for Bristol.

And thank you Photobuck for hosting.

In screen shot No5 is the wall suppose to cross the road or is it just temporary. Btw looks like another good route for us all to tackle.

It is confusing, isn't it - much like it does to me and I am supposed to be able to understand it!
But no, that road is split, the ends are on 2 different levels. Since then I have put the road ends on...
Actually the drop is supposed to be vertical but that is impossible in Trainz so a wall is the nearest I could get. I suppose a retaining wall would do it but then there is the great big grass lip to contend with so I opted for the wall - at least for now.
In shot 4 the wall across the river isn't supposed to be there. I just plonk assets about as and when while I am building and tend not to tidy up for a screenie for WIP.

Blessing,

Angela

difficult!

Awesome shots Angela, I'm a fan of suburban routes. Hope you succeed in completing this one.:)

Hello,
This is a very difficult route to do, lots of height variations and I am guessing a lot. Google Earth isn't a lot of help but you can glean info from the way shadows fall and the height of walls if the go down or up, for instance under the tracks. Those shots on a seperate PC via a USB flash drive and also shots sneaked off the Planning Portal all help a bit.
So I am struggling..... have been on it all day, only just come out of Trainz at 2200 hours and that's since about 0900 this morning!
Not a lot of time tomorrow or Thursday though... things to do.

Bless you,

Angela

More work

A few more as I journey way out west of the station and up to Bedminster.

And more, there's plenty of it!

And a lot of underpassess too...

Plus factories. almost like doing the Paddington end of the WCL1 again..

Next section coming...

I'm not much of a UK route fan,but this route so far is absolutely stunning:eek:
Keep up the wonderful work,I may just have to download this one eventually:p
Happy Holidays!

Looks great!!! You sure have more patience than I do with all of the level changes. I think it would drive me mad.

I'm pretty sure there is a Temple Meads trainshed spline available on the DLS, in case you don't already have it. Great work though, the area south of TM really looks authentic!

Thanks

Thank you guys. Here are some later ones.

Bristol_In_Progress_2_2-1.jpg

A King passes through the platforms (No roof in place yet...)

Bristol_In_Progress_2_3-1.jpg

A King and a Castle pass.

Bristol_In_Progress_2_4-1.jpg

A Castle passes under the road bridge west of Temple Meads station.

And the very same loco is seen passing the MPD.

Thanks to Photobucket for their wonderful hosting service.

Bless you all,

Angela

Looks like Bristol is coming along very nicely there, I've had similar problems building Edinburgh with lots of difficult changes in level.

I'd advise using 'arches end' at the abutments under the ends of the bridge in the second last shot.

Good luck, looking forward to this.

Okay, and cheers. It didn't notice until I took that shot! Ha ha, that 'certain' law came into effect.

Still no offers on producing the canopy though. It's the walls that are a bind, there's nothing like it on the DS. At present experimenting with MS luggage offices all along in a line with an AJS wall set into them but it's not ideal and frankly I am unhappy with it, but there are no alternatives. The roof (when I eventually put it on, probably the AJS one which isn't right either!) must have supports either side...
I only have two outside pictures in railway books and a few inside I got off the Internet, so a lot of it is guesswork.

Bless you for your suggestion.

I find it useful to search the fotopic galleries here, not sure if you use this?

http://community.fotopic.net/search/simple.php?tab=P&txt=bristol

There are hundreds, maybe even thousands of pics of Bristol available here.

I think it would be worthwhile trying to contact segy before you finalise the roof, I find a pm through this forum is a very good way of contacting Trainzers who have been out of touch for a while and have had many successes in the past using this.

Right on, thanks for that link.

I did contact segy but he has never responded I am afraid. His roof is for 06 and I work in 04 so I asked if he could change the magic line so I could use it.
And I asked on here and the UK forum if anybody would volunteer - but no replies either.
I have used the AJS roof now, just wanted to get it done and out of the way.

Bless you for that link though, I'll look at it tomorrow now, the telly beckons, after all, I have been working on BTM all day.
