Broken Routes

Glenethson

Some Might Say
I backed up some of my own routes and payware items onto a usb stick.
Then I had to reboot my computer so I moved the the imported the content back into CMP 2. The imported trains worked fine but the imported after I tried to use the routes I got an error telling me the routes were either broken or had missing files. There were only a few missing files so I presume their broken. Can anything be done to fix them?

Cheers
Glen

Are the backups saved as a CDP on your USB memory stick ?

If so, you just import content, or import CDP, and select the CDP to import into Trainz.

I prefer RW-DVD as a storage media, as it can be re-written and updated constantly.

No their just files copied from the editing folder when I opened them for edit.

Perhaps someone with more knowlege than me, about the re-installation and re-importing of Trainz files, and I am hoping they can assist you.

Two observations:
1. Did you use the CMP File - Import Content to get content that was saved from the edit folder, back into Trainz?

2. Did you save all dependencies of the items you backed up?

You may find that if you copied the folder to another drive all you need do is copy back, dont import a copied file. Delete the assets tdx file for trainz to rebuild its data base.

I did se the CMP File - Import Content to get content that was saved from the edit folder, back into Trainz and I did not have all of the dependencies backed up. I just downloaded them again, But when I copied the files back into the editing folder they did'nt appear in the open for edit tab.

Just an afterthought for what it is worth, but you said you opened them for edit. Did you commit them after the reloading?

Cheers

Well they didn't appear in the open for edit tab so I had to import them and they did appear in the game but the game told me it missing files or broken.

You can't just copy something into the edit folder and expect CM2 to show it open for edit. Trainz data is stored in a database format in the local folder and CM2 is required to be used to move the data in and out of the edit folder and the local folder.

It sounds like you still have some dependencise missing - perhaps from 3rd party websites. You will need to see exactly what CM2 says is missing or broken. Did you take these from an earlier version of Trainz, or was your first installation also TS2009?

And no, you can't open for edit outside content manager.

I've deleted all faulty, broken and missing dependencies and no luck.

This is just a thought, In the TS2009 that crashed did you have any .ja files from other versions, e.g., TC1&2, TC3, you know built-in files, could these be the missing files. Also you say that you didn’t get all the assets, by the open for edit method, could you have mixed up open for edit files with, Import Content Files on your memory stick?

Also I think if you go down the open for edit route, I’m not a hundred percent certain but I think you have to delete assets.tdx and the backup first.
