The issue can be repeated ad infinitum. When using surveyor add bookmarks at different locations using CTRL-ALT #. Without exiting surveyor, test the bookmarks to make sure you can go to each one. Exit surveyor.

Enter drive mode. Drive the trains around or exit immediately.

Go back to editing using surveyor. Bookmarks are gone.

This was not an issue with SP4 or SP3.

If no one else is having this problem, then it must be my install. Has anyone else noticed this or am I the only one using bookmarks? :o

I use bookmarks all the time. The only occasion where they have disappeared is immediately after an SP update. Otherwise they have always been present when the same route has been reloaded.

Did you also submit a bug report?

Guess you and I are the ONLY ones using bookmarks chili, therefore NOTHING is being done about it until more people complain?

As I posted above, I also use bookmarks so you and chili46 are not the ONLY ones. The only conclusions that I can draw, from a very broad survey of 3 users, are:-

 1. very few people (2 so far) who use bookmarks are having this issue in which case the cause of the problem is likely to be somewhere else, or
 2. we are the only 3 people who use them so that could be a strong case for removing them entirely to eliminate any future problems, or
 3. more people are using bookmarks and are having this problem but do not consider it important enough to worry about (or post about)

As has been pointed out many times by Tony, nothing can be done until enough users can reproduce the problem reliably. Otherwise a lot of valuable time is wasted bug hunting on very vague evidence. Time that could be better spent on other confirmed and reproducible cases.

I have certainly been in the position of being the only one who has made a bug report (fully reproducible) about a particular problem. I also posted about it in these forums and got zero replies (that makes you feel very lonely) and it took several SPs and a new release before the bug was finally fixed. That, unfortunately, is the nature of bug fixing - you give your expensive development time to the ones that get the most reproducible reports.

My thoughts and experiences.

I did submit a ticket and this is the results:

Aha. We got there! This was the missing step:
"Exited Surveyor and entered Driver"

Thanks for persevering and helping us get to the bottom of this issue.

The workaround for now is to use a "Surveyor only" type asset, then name the asset and use "Ctrl-F" to find the object.
e.g.
<kuid2:661281:96069:1> Surveyor Only Object Indicator (Red 1m Cube)

You're not limited to 10 items, and you can find them in Driver.

Kind Regards

N3V Games Support Team

Notice they, the dev team, were able to reproduce the problem. While the temporary solution works it is cumbersome and not what I was hoping for. So, my solution was to make a copy of all the bookmarks (
D:\Users\Chili\Documents\N3V Games\trs19\build tbxyh9jy1\cache\bookmarks) and then I can restore them after exiting driver. Cumbersome too, but a simple copy and replace instead of placing hundreds of markers on multiple maps.

Good on you!

I too had to use a temporary "fix" which I had to build into the Session Rules until, as I mentioned, several SPs and a major new release later, the bug was finally fixed. Bug eradication is a waiting game.

I have found that providing the QA team with clear, precise instructions on how to replicate the problem together with sample .cdps (if possible) works far better than the very vague "Its not working, please fix it" (with the "please" being optional) posts that often appear in these forums.

Now onto the next issue!

OBSERVATION: I do an incremental (new file name) Save As each day of route work, using two previous files as backups. Four days ago, did some work, loaded 10 Bookmarks and used named signs for use with Find Object if required, and a Save As. Did some more work and multiple Save(s). Next three days Bookmarks WERE STILL THERE!
Bug which appeared after last update seems to clear Bookmarks only after a Save As, Exit ans reload?

In the past, and I still do it periodically, I a place a track mark on a side piece of track and called it current EOT. I could then search for current EOT and end up where I wanted to be to continue working. TRS-Plus is a little nicer that it remembers where I was in the previous editing session quite well including when jumping between driver and Surveyor not in the UDS.

This wasn't always the case in the past, and there were issues in the past of not only losing bookmarks similarly, and also forgetting where I was last and having to crawl across the map to find my last location.

In this respect, the bookmarks are a bit obsolete for me and because of the problems in the past I no longer rely on them.
