BNSF Clovis Sub

:Y: :Y: Clovis 1 has always been my fav route. I like to drive a GE ES44AC tester and BNSF C44-9Ws. Nice shots Dermmy!!!!:Y: :Y:

That's a brilliant map young man, thanks so much for doing it, it's very in-depth and it'll provide so much operating information all on one A4 sheet of paper which we can place against our monitors. Fantastic idea, will Dermmy be putting it onto his website for all those who don't come on the forums ??

I was at a train show recently. Fellow there had the clovis sub running in TS10. He had a quad core with a very fast graphics card. He was jumping all over the route and from train to train. Everything was without any pause at all. Clovis sure made a great demo of TS10. :D I was filled with envy.:(

Rob

That was me!! And I love Clovis thus why I demo that route among others!

Hello anybody,

Has anyone actually got this layout running in TS2010 yet please, I've been attempting to get this damned route and all it's dependencies installed and repaired before I can play on it, since yesterday, that's nearly 30 hours ago, of the 19 assets that show up with errors, there are 7 ground textures, which I've gone into and repaired them all with whatever problems they had showing, but, when you click on commit nothing happens, in the box you keep getting the same message every time, I've put a screenshot below to show you what I mean. this not only appears on the ground texture errors, but, all the other assets as well, sirgibbys NZ house and others, it's getting beyond a joke now, I've nearly lost a whole weekend faffing about, this TS2010 is beyond a joke, I cannot get any of my PAYWARE locos repaired with various faults that show up, I'm beginning to think that re-installing this version is a complete waste of time, especially, as whilst waiting for the CMP to update this morning, I noticed on the DLS that NOTHING has hardly been created in TS2010, only 5 locomotives (well, 3 HST power cars and 2 items that you wouldn't class as locos ) and only 11 items of rolling stock, what's everyone been doing for the last 12 months since this game was released ???

Someone please assist me with some reasonable thoughts or tips.

Hi Ex, I have Clovis running in TS2010 SP3 native mode without any problems. It's just superb. Love it, love it, love it!

Yes, there are plenty of faulty assets to fix if you want to run in native mode, and on top of that you must change the portals to "Portal Basic HP". That's not too difficult, but it means that you have to clone the route to your kuid. The effort is definitely worth it.

Note to Dermmy: perhaps it would be a good idea to issue a revised version with the HP portals?

Cheers

I'd say try compatibility mode. If Dermmy does re-do the route for 2010, he might (not like I really know) be planning on it being for compatibility mode since that is what he is doing for East Kentucky. Compatibility mode is all I have been running since it is the only way to use so many great assets. If you use only the stuff that works in 2010, you have a handful of great looking objects that work, and the rest will look like 2004.

Hi Chris, Ex,

The route was built in TRS04. It will run as-supplied in TRS2010 Compatibility Mode. Native Mode should be possible, but the repairs etc are down to each individual user.

Frankly I do not even have the route installed on 10 yet. Since realizing the potential of TS2010 my efforts have been focused entirely in getting a fully-treed version of East Kentucky done. I expect to have a complete Beta of EK3 in the hands of testers before Christmas (the public release will probably be early in the new year) and as stated above Clovis is the next route up for revision to 2010 standards.

There are a zillion mistakes on Clovis, the entire route is up for new ground textures, the entire area around Bellen needs re-done with less 'green' and the route needs extending as far as the Fort Sumner Bridge, so the 'revision' is a huge project and will take some time.

I have thought about a 'quickie' revision of some of the glaring goofs, but I think on balance it is better to re-do it properly even although that means a year or two's work....

That's the plan anyway!

Andy ;)

HOPEFULLY Clovis will be a Native route. EK3 had to be compatibility because of the trees. There are fewer trees on Clovis and if I can find some decent user-friendly 3d trees and shrubs suitable for a desert location then it will be Native. If not, then...

Andy :)

Hello Andy and the others,

Thank you for assisting as much as possible, but, I've now given up, the ground textures still won't repair properly to show up in the game and when I went onto the route it's so bad that I can't play on it, not like I can do in my older versions of Trainz that I own. I did manage to get one of Justin's freeware locomotives off the Jointed Rail site to finally acknowledge and went on a run with some wellcars, but, having spent 30 hours just on this one route, there's no way that I'm wasting the rest of the weekend doing anything else. I've put a couple of screenshots up to show you what I managed to do, but, re-installing TS2010 is still beyond me and obviously won't provide any enjoyment in my hobby.

I've archived your route and all the assets on a DVD, Andy, and will use it on TRS2007, but, as far as TS2010 goes, it's being uninstalled forever.

Thanks for all your help matey, your route building is a dream and long may you continue to provide much entertainment to the community in the future.

Hi Ex

I know it doesn't help when somebody posts back 'Huh- It works for me!' and I know you are trying for success in Native Mode, but out of curiosity I just installed Clovis2 and I get this in the same area as your top screenie, straight-out-of-the-box into TS2010 SP3 in Compatibility Mode with nothing 'fixed' ...

clovis_10.jpg

I ran a very simple session, one train only, but ran at about 50-60fps with draw distance set at 3k meters. I know the route should run faster and look better in Native, and I know a more complex session will slow it down some, but 50-60fps is about good enough for me!

Looking at your shot of those B40s I suspect also that there is some conflict in your screen res, they look kinda stretched out. I had the same effect in TS2010 when I first installed it. No matter what settings I tried I could not get a 'natural' look to it till I tried it windowed, which made a world of difference both to appearance and performance. Might be worth trying...

Andy ;)

I'm sure this isn't the best place to ask this, but since you mentioned it, Andy, what do you mean by running it "windowed"? I have heard this before but I do not know how to try it. Most stuff runs good in 2010 compatibility mode for me, but I would not turn away any performance improvements.

'Windowed' means not full-screen.

TS2010 Opening Screen > Options > Display Settings > Uncheck 'Fullscreen' and select a window size from the 'Display Resolution' dropdown list.

I run TS2010 at 1680 x 1050 on a 1920 x 1080 monitor. Not all that much smaller than fullscreen, but the difference in appearance and performance is significant...
