BNSF Clovis Sub

Nice pics!

And great news Dermmy that we'll see a 3 to 4 week release, but take your time if it goes over. I can be patient.

:)

It has been almost 2 months since this thread was active. This is such a fantastic route, I just had to get some more shots posted here. Hope you like.

New Haven Railroad, thats alittle odd for that locale, lol. But the shots look great!

Looks like it got your attention. :hehe:;)

Thanks everyone but if the shots look good, it is because the layout is good. Dermmy has done a fantastic job.

BNSF Warbonnets in Belen, NM

Four BNSF SD40-2s in the ATSF blue and yellow "Warbonnet" livery, pull a string of empty hoppers into Belen, NM. I caught this picture from the passenger side as my friend and I were crossing on the Reinken Avenue overpass, heading west, as a BNSF west-bound mixed intermodal / freight train also passes by.

Thanks Dermmy again, for this terrific route. I have a blast running it!

Don't even ask me where I took this shot, I won't tell you. But let's just say that my friend high-tailed it further on down the line and we caught up with the warbonnets heading through Belen.

You've made a valid point there young man, I aint seen a bad screenshot yet from Dermmy's layout, it must be a very graphics card friendly route, although in saying that, it's fairly flat and no mountains or hills in the way. Wonder what it would be like with some background in, has anyone done anything semi-desert style that would look good on this map, nearly all of the assets on the DLS are not exactly suitable for this territory.

Hills - there are hills! Actually I just flicked back through all the published screenshots and true enough, there is hardly a hill to be seen. In truth though the area modelled whilst far from 'flat' is certainly not mountainous, except in the area around Abo Canyon. The route was hogged with long draw distances in mind and the width averages between six and eight boards, though to see the 'background' you have to tweak the default draw distance out with TrainzTuner. For most of the route though the land runs pretty much flat all the way to the horizons, so even a 'distant hills' background would be out of place.

Around Abo Canyon though the land does rise steeply (as does the track) though again TrainzTuner is needed to actually see more than just the foreground hills.

In one of the few hills-inclusive screenshots westbound Q-CICLAC (Chicago - Los Angeles) thunders down the last few yards of single track at East Sais whilst an unidentified Eastbound waits to grind up the canyon...

Oh goodie! Finally some shots with C40's in them. I like to see some of them every once and a while, assuming because they're my favorite motive power. Great shots skidmark, and because they're on Dermmy's route, that adds a bonus! (Beautiful route Dermmy, love it!):Y: Keep up the good work, and to everyone else that takes pics of Dermmy's route. Keep those screenshots coming!

Hello Andy,

Yes, of course there some hills on the route, sorry, however, the majority of the layout is fairly flat and personally, I don't like using Trainz Tuner, it doesn't suit my PC very well so wanted to add a bit of depth to certain areas and thought a few background tiles fairly close to the track may add a bit of interest and might look good on future screenshots.....I'm going to have a little play and see if I can tweak a few baseboards, it's just a matter of finding the right kind of background to suit the area.....

Stay in the cab...

 Factors involved in long range scenery....

  • Extra baseboards for the reason of scenery will inevitably come to objects added to the poly-count
  • The 5000meter setting in the Options is 3.1miles. Rome, GA for example is in a valley surrounded by "mountains" but in Trainz you can't see them because they're over three miles from the track...
  • Inside the cab of a locomotive at any speed so gives you so much work to do you hardly notice mountains unless they pop-up in front of the windshield
Dermmy, what are your preferred trainzoptions?
