I was watching Extreme Trains last night, in which the took a trip through Belen and Abo Canyon, and I must say, Dermmy, you've done the route proud! :D

Nightmarescenario Part 1

Here is a little fictive "what if" American Nightmare scenario.

History update: The USSR is still alive and even worse they won the cold war by invading the America's. They landed on the shores of California, Oregon and other pacific coast states and swept rather quickly through a completely stunned American Heartland. The Clovis sub is one of the mayor lines captured by the Red Army, in this war which has been going on since the early 80's. The Russians use converted (broadgauge to normalgauge) Russian stock, Chinese bought or hired loco's and anything they could capture on Americans. The eastern front is still very active and resistance groups are plenty full.

A Westbound Fuel train with a SZD 4TE10S quadruple unit in front, passes an Eastbound Hopper consist with a Russian 3M62U waiting for the red light. A military transport is seen waiting on the far track.

Here a better view of the military transport of trucks and tanks heading to the Atlantic front.

chm31ps5.jpg

A pair of CHM3's is hot on the tail of the Fuel train.

3m62u1rq1.jpg

The 3M62U gets the green light instead of the high priority military train, due to a little sabotage of an American employee at the Dispatch.

Finally the hired Chinese DF11 can pull away, assisted by a poorly neglected, captured CSX unit.

Further west a 2TEP60 is hauling containers east.

Because of a serious shortage of motive power, even these old warriors in museum colors are put to work. A F7A in shiny heritage ATSF Freight paint scheme and a Burlington B-unit.....

..... are backed up by a more modern M62U. In the background the Westbound Fuel train with a 2TE116 pushing on the end of this very long and heavy train.

3te10m1wg0.jpg

A 3TE10M is idling the day away, waiting for a stranded or sabotaged train to rescue.

4te10s3fv2.jpg

Even old Russian steam is used. A P36 locomotive is steaming East with a rack of containers, while the 4TE10S is filling it's massive fuel tanks.

To be continued...

Nightmarescenario Part 2

And the rest...

4te10s4uj1.jpg

Another view of the 4TE10S filling up, with just a glimpse of a geriatric 2TE7 pulling a rack of captured gondola's, with a 2TE10U in the back (not vissible).

CCCP Loco's are not really known for their environmentalfriendly exhaust.

2te1161mp4.jpg

The end of a Westbound Grain train, with a view of the pushing 2TE116 on the Fuel Train.

The pair of CHM3's has also arrived at the fuel depot.

The 3TE10M seen from the other side.

2te10v1ev2.jpg

In the background a pair of hired Chinese DF11's are seen pulling in next to the CHM3's. The fully loaded Grainhoppers were captured by the Soviets.....

2te10v2tn2.jpg

..... and are hauled by a 2TE10V and a vintage DD40AX.

df112zu4.jpg

The highpriority DF11's are passing the fueling CHM3's on the other side of Belen.

A close-up of the DF11's as they are barreling through.

I hope you all enjoyed it. I just wanted to do something with the extremly detailed Chinese and Russian Loco's and this just seemed like fun.

Now why didn't I think of that :p

Great looking content. The European screenshots thread always tempts me to try something different. Maybe......

Howdy...would you be interested in a trade?...I am in the Process of building the Cumbres & Toltec Railroad Circa 1900's...i will post a few videos on youtube as soon as i am able....i like this stretch of railroad because of its high volume of traffic...I live in Albuquerque and have been an avid Trainz user since my new computer came home..lol

Dermmy.
What can be said about this route?
I cant think of anything to express my feelings of how well you have built it. I'm surprised BNSF hasnt contacted you about using it as a training route for their employees!
Your overall effort in such a large route is just astounding, let alone breathtaking. Please, keep up with your awesome screenshots, they always brighten my day.

Well done Dermmy!
No need to rush the next part if it makes it as good as the current section!

This might actully fit into a movie I saw called Red Dawn where the USA was invaded by communist forces, it was in the Eastern Rockies I think. The description of the invasion and the route location supports yours. Not the first time a country retooled their equipment for use in another country during wartime.

Well the idea came indeed from a movie a saw long, long ago, about some highschoolkids forming a resistancecell against USSR troops in the USA. It was a typicall 80's coldwar movie. There is a good chance it was this Red Dawn movie you mentioned. I'll look it up on Wiki to be sure. I collected a few Russian & Chinese loco's after seeing a 3TE10M unit on Youtube blowing more smoke than a steamengine. Suddenly thought about this film and that it might be a nice idea, the plan was actually to use a European lay-out. But Clovis with it`s streched yard and wide open space was more suitable.

EDIT: I checked, it was indeed "Red Dawn"

Ah, Dermmy, although I don't have all the dependencies downloaded (as usual), even without them, the route is still great!

Hi Iced

About half way down this page is a list of direct links to every route asset not on the DLS.

If you have the session then there is a similar list of links right at the bottom of this page

No excuses for missing content on this one....
