Well,

I decided to give you a tiny sneak peek of the route, so here we go:

Do you have any other pics besides at track level. All the weeds in the way are kinda annoying. Maybe that it is a little too many weeds. I would think that the Railroad might have some sort of weed control. LOL. Other than that, it looks ok.

Weed Control

Looks like your route needs a weed control spraying program, a car full of total vegitation killer. Looks like a "Bug's Life" view of Trainz ! LOL !

And get rid of the grass on the track, Only on small rural branch lines grass would be found like that ( And would still be rare to see it like that )

Geez, California's rail system must have really gone down hill since the Govenator took over, when i was last in Cali it didnt look that bad

Here's some additional shotz, where the weeds are no longer serious:

First we catch the daily Surfliner pulling into LA...:

Next 2 of us from our large railfanning group catch it at the station:

Next, 4 of us were at the Disneyland platform, and took this shot:

Take it easy? People are just giving critiques. No one ever said the route sucks or anything.

The last time I've seen California this green was... Well almost never. You might want to consider adding more "dry" textures. By that I mean light brown dirt, with some dried up grass, etc. And definitely mix up the texturing too. A lot of the one texture deals now-a-days tend to be extremely boring to the eyes. Also the shurbs definitely need to go, end of story. I've never seen a California track that was used on a regular basis that had so much shrubbery, especially looking so uniform right next to the track. You may also want to consider, in the parts where the tracks run through suburban neighborhoods and big citys, adding stuff such as: derbis, dirt/rocks, litter, etc.

I think the problem here is, Iced8383 is rushing into it a bit. We have here a couple of boards, track with a few buildings or dmdrake's city blocks scattered around.

Before starting a route, consider where the route is based. I myself make more fictional routes with no particular location in mind. This is to avoid making mistakes and gives me the freedom to do as I please without having to be careful about what type of buildings to use, how they should be placed etc.

I also like to browse the DLS to see what sort of content I could use. I tend to go for photo textured content, this makes for a much more realistic looking route. Content creators such as guyader.1, duarn, kilanziom, gfisher, dmdrake have provided some excellent buildings and other things.

When I start a route, it's always with one board. I put a station, buildings, some plantation. This is my starting point and I work my way round it, only adding more boards when I am satisfied I've done enough.

Don't try making a 30 board route in 5 minutes, take your time Iced8383.:)

I love the route iced, but one thing I would say is don't build such a large route, me, I'd rather build a 5 module layout that I could experiment on, then move up. My opinion.
