Greetings;
To those of us who don't have a lot of money to spare, gmax and Blender are our only economical means by which we can create Trainz content.
I use Blender 2.49 because it works, even with normal maps.
I tried using Blender 2.5. This version has no problem exporting difuse maps but I can't get this version to export difuse and normal maps. Exporting with a normal map included, the object I export looks the same color as the normal map (bluish-pink) in Trainz. I have done all I can to get this to work and have been unable to do so. Having carefully examined the XML file for both 2.49 and 2.5, there are obvious differences in the bump mapping text file between the two versions. Not being a programmer, I have no idea what to make of the difference, except to say that there is a difference.
Now there is Blender version 2.6. The current set of Trainz export addons do not work--the exporter throws up a bunch of errors in the traceback window.
The question is: How often will a Blender Exporter be updated to meet the latest Blender version?
I am working with Trainz version 2010 and have successfully install models made both in gmax and in Blender 2.49.
Thanks in advance for whatever help or opinion that is offered.
Cheers,
srude
