Blender exporter

Hello Barry

What is the error msg you getting in CMP for that particular content?

Regards

Ahsan:)

Hello Ahsan........No error in cmp. Its when converting in CCP to TC3 standard it show the cross to click to delete auto-create 1....See config in thread. ........mesh (criccieth). auto-create 1 If auto-create 1 is deleted (which is the fault) then it doesn't load into surveyor in TC3. If left (faulty)no problem as loads with all textures. Same applies to the three castles I have exported so far. Conway1, Conway2, Criccieth plus the rock perch beacon.................. This is either with a single texture or 3 textures on 3 seperate meshes with a different material colour on each as detailed. Details are in the thread somewhere, etc.............. I read that auto create 1 creates the inside of object before the outside in trainz but just scenery objects as in the images. Barry See castle images in thread. They have 3 UV textures on seperate meshes each with it own material colour....trainz apparently can only take up to 3 uv textures as won't load the 4th...Barry

temporary image shows the "fault" in ccp for tc3.
This is using Blender exporter to im.
Delete the fault and no object to load in Surveyor.
Leave"fault" and works OK.
However working on the principle of updating new items to tc3 level for 2009/10 versions.
Same result using 3 textures on a castle or 1 texture on another castle, beacon, or a simple cube.
Will leave it at that........3 UV textures on 3 seperated meshes on this one.

Hi Barry

Thanks very much for the Blender help files you have up on your website. There are some useful snippets of info there. It is very interesting that some work is being done on Blender. It appears to be steadily growing in popularity. Would be very nice to see it in regular use in model building for Trainz.

By the way for a free ,sleek, mean and light PDF reader, Foxit looks about the pick of the bunch.

Regards Pete

Thanks Pete tutorials are fairly basic but I learn't some of the hints on the memo page from trainz members.
I put the sumatra pdf program on just over a meg and seems to work fine.

Just a small update, we have the first creation in Trainz running through the Blender XML exporter / XML importer but there seems to be an issue with attachment points.

Translation once the XML route is working this means we should be unable to corrupt Trainz by feeding it an invalid .im file which is a theoretical concern at the moment for all the exporters other than GMAX or 3DS.

TC3 and Blender beta exporter show as fault as previously detailed with all scenery content I tried so far inclding the castles.

TC3. Back to textured basic box.
Edit in CCP . click default below mesh tab
REQUIRES auto-create 1 or will not show in Surveyor object window.
Add the line auto-create 1 below the mesh .im name in config and loads OK in TC3 no problem.................
BUT............. now shows as error. in CCP with X in box to remove the line.
You need to click the left side window to see the errors in CCP.
Remove "error" and does not load. Applies to all objects tried so far.
That finishes my posts on this topic.

Barry P.S Will leave trainz, etc for the present time.

Hi

I've tried to get the blender exporter running up but I can't find BLENDER_INSTALL_DIR\.blender\scripts within the directory of C:\Program Files\Blender Foundation\Blender.
  • I'm using blender 2.46
  • I'm using trainz classics 3 V2.8 build:3517
  • Blender exporter for trainz V0.63
Not sure if I need to add the files that I do have.

Sometimes the scripts get hidder under documents and settings, there is a normally hidden folder called application data unhide it then go digging.

If you unhide it does it get sent back to it's folder? Or do I have to transfer the exporter into that folder?

Blender is not primarily a Windows application. Windows does not allows play nicely with applications that are designed for other operating systems and places the control files in a hidder folder so that people can't make changes easily.

Depending how Blender was installed Windows sometimes places associated files not with the software but with a special folder call application data.

On my machine I have to go to G:\Documents and Settings\Trainz then under folder options on the view tab under hidden files and folders click to indicate you wish to see hidden files and folders.

On your machine it will probably be under c:\Documents and Settings then under your user account name.

Lemme explain this more succinctly. It's in C:\Program Files\Blender Foundation\Blender\.blender\scripts. The folder ".blender" is hidden by default, so you're gonna have to "show hidden folders." (I don't remember how to do that; it's been so long since I switched it on.)

I have to go into C:\Documents and Settings\Ben\Application Data\.blender to get to the blender folder

Added:But i'm confused about if I have to move the folder to C:\Program Files\Blender Foundation\Blender and put the plugin into there butnow I think about it I have to put the file into C:\Documents and Settings\Ben\Application Data\Blender Foundation\Blender\.blender\scripts.

I think that you have to right click on the folder then go to "propertys" and then untick the box "hidden".:D

Added:I notice that i have to download TrainzMeshImporter from http://www.trainzdev.com but there's no sign of the file anywhere.

Don't move any files or folders, just copy in the exporter into the folder.

is the traindev link.

I've registerd but all that I can find is the Max 4 and Max 5 plugins for TRS2004, Media:MaxExporters.rar and Media:TrainzImporter.rar downloads.

None of them is the trainz mesh importer.

TrainzImporter.rar is the one you want. Use IZarc to unzip it.
