Blender 2.5

Greetings all;

I've plunged myself into learning Blender beta version 2.5. After some searching and poking around, I managed to get and load the Trainz exporter items. Then, I created a cube, added a texture and tried exporting into my export file.

Nothing!

Looking at the error log, it says that the file lacks an attribute matrix!

Has anyone gone this far with Blender 2.5 Beta?

Any info will be appreciated.

Cheers,

srude

As I understand it, the exporters and general support for 2.5 isn't quite as mature as that for 2.49b, which is why I chose to learn on the latter and develop with it. I figure I can always move up to later versions when they're ready for prime time.

Dave,

Can you positively state that exporting to Trainz can be done with 2.5+ as reliably as with 2.49b? With no/minimal problems? I've read comments in another thread and surely don't mind an improved interface. But quality and reliability are what matters here.

From what I've read on the forums (forae? :)) Gmax is easier but Blender is more powerful. If the Blender 2.5+ interface has gotten user-friendly enough while being 100% capable of exporting to Trainz then it's probably an improvement.

I have been working with Blender 2.5 for a while and it has caused me no problems. I have not built anything like an engine or anything super complex.

Gmax is going the way of Trainz 2004. You can use it but there is no support and it is very limited compared to the potential of Blender.
Can I give you a 100% Guarantee? No!

My advice, for what it's worth, is to get in on the ground floor with Blender 2.5 The interface is a vast improvement over 2.49b.

If you are a Professional. Get 3Dmax.
