Best Simulator ever!

Loves The NYC E Train
Yesterday I went on a simulator for The Orion VII at the TTC Operations Training Center for the orion VII (both Gens). The instructor said I did well for someone without a drivers license. The mock-up is a regular drivers cabin with 5 flat screen Tvs to make it look like I really was driving the bus! They also have orion VII's from NYC Bus/MTA Bus and San Mateo County Transit District (Samtrans) as well. Any Questions?

Do you have photos of the bus simulator at the TTC Operations Training Center? What did they teach you? I think that NYCTA has either bus or subway simulator but I'm not sure.

My father and uncles all work for bus companies. Currently my dad is a supervisor at RTD (formerly "SMART" the stockton transit system) but he used to be a maitenece instructor over at Samtrans. Simulators are fun, but there is not substitute for the real thing. Growing up, Ive spent quite a bit of time at the shops in san mateo, and when the yards were empty, they used to let me drive a few buses around. Standard ones and even their articulated fleet. By now I can say that I know these beasts inside and out and can troubleshoot them almost as good as the pros. Simularly, my uncles work over at VTA, the transit system for the san jose-fremont area. Buses are just flat out fun to drive XD

cheers

Doesn't have anything to do with trains but speaking of simulators: Way back many years ago, United used to let people rent time on their 707 simulators at Denver's Stapleton Airport. I got two hours for my birthday once. It was awesome flying them. I took off from Denver, flew to Salt Lake City. Then shot some landings at Hong Kong, Manila, and New York.

I Was taught how to operate an Orion VII (both 1st Gen and Next Gen as they both have the same cabs. I was taught everything on operating the orion VII (the mock-up is identicalt to the real thing). anyway, here are some pictures from the internet:

I hope you like what you see. New bus drivers are first put on this simulator before they get to drive a real bus. It prepares drivers for everything like emergency vehicles, fighting on the bus and fires. There also is traffic and pedestrians (they will j-walk as well). For just 500 000 dollars canadian, this could be yours.

jeffmorris, if you want to create an orion VII for trainz with working controls, I'd be happy to explain them for you.

About 25 years ago, I saw an old kind of a driving simulator using what looked like the body of a bumper car from an amusement park and mirrors behind the driver's head. I think that it used videos.
