Belgium (question)

Hello Mark,

I always find it amazing how many people are able to create a very nice route in such a short time. :udrool::cool: As Belgian I only hope, in the near future, this thread will be continued with another route creation of a region within Belgium.
Keep up the good work and If you also decide to present several sreenshots of your next fictional German tram route, I will follow your thread.

Best regards

Hi,

Just to say that my Tram layout is near completion, so I might go back to the Belgium route and add the final extension to 'Mons'. As it feels a bit incomplete finishing it at Louvirere Sud.

Now that the tram route is complete, which can be viewed at the 'Subways Underground and Trams' thread, It's time to start heading for Mon's.

Many thanks Ray. I could not have built this layout without using GE, as I have not been to Belgium myself. But you have to be careful using GE as the satellite photo's are sometimes out of date and you have to go down to ground level to see if what you see is correct. For example; From the satellite image there are some foot bridges connecting the platforms at Mons station, but at ground level they've gone.

Continuing the birds view: 1) Nimy Station. 2) Sidings at Mons where a lot of not in service AM80's are kept. 3) Road approach to Mons Station. 4) Mons Station forecourt. 5) Mons Station.
Next set of screenshots over the coming days will be at ground level.

Hi Kurt,

In answer to your questions: The bridges are Bridge_Bascule1 Kuid: 99226:38001 which is the nearest road bridge that I could find to what's actually on site. There are similar bridges available for rail use. As to your second question, the answer is no. All tracks are laid individually. I don't even use double tracks as I have found it difficult to straighten them out.

And for the purist, I know the signals are not the correct Belgium ones, as I generally use what I know works correctly.

Hi again,

Some running shots of an am80 travelling between Louviere-Sud and Mons. 1) Departing Louviere-Sud. 2) Passing through Braguegnies Station. 3) Over the level crossing at Thive. 4) Passing through Harve Station. 5) Awaiting departure for return journey from Mons.

more to follow.

Many thanks to Belgium46 for giving me some details about the mining museum, in post 86

Hello Mark,

Thank you for the information. I have placed the Bridge_Bascule1 into my pen notebook for future use in my route.

Best regards

Hello Mark,

Although French freight trains do normally not use the line Mons - La Louviere, you can always let some French freight trains start at Mons railwaystation and assume that they had to take a detour due to unforseen circumstances.

Hi Kurt,

Thanks for the information but the Hid's are working the line from the works at Obourg through La Louviere and the 'Gold' is picking up spares from the AM80 yard. So I assume all AM80 parts are now transported by road.

Hello Mark,

Line Mons - Bxl ( Midi - Central - Nord ) - time to place the HLE 18 within your route .

Best regards

Hi Kurt,

Old or new HLE 18? And which passenger coaches would you suggest? Would the train stop anywhere or is it non-stop between Mons - BXi?
