Before I call it quits, help me first

I would like some assistance before I actually reinstall the game. I have been doing an extended database repair for 3 hours, and it goes slowest on checking faulty assets. I've read that too many of those can make the game unstable, but when I apply a filter in content manager to get to those, it pretty much freezes and it still says "please wait" after many minutes. Can anybody please help me with this???? I do not want to have to reinstall the game just yet:'(

This is normal, and happens sometimes when using the filters particularly if the filter has to sort through a lot of assets.
Let Content Manager finish its search and see what it finds.

One of the things that does help is a hard drive defrag. Remember CM is reading in the database file from the hard disk, and if the disk is very fragmented, this can definitely slow down the performance.

yep, John,
I think it should not be that long at all unless your drive is fragmented old no SSD and the comp spec is to old for TS12 to run properly.

If you have database windows turned on, check the activity of TrainzUtil, as this is the process responsible for doing most of the work. It has a habit of failing to do things properly at times - you can usually tell this in the TADDaemon output.

Hi Enginewhistle, after each time I'm done running Trainz for the day (Or night), I always run a Defrag program to keep things running smooth, especially after a major downloading session and commiting the new assets. so when you have to do a data repair, it will go a little faster. It also depends on how manny assets that you have too. So far, I'v only had to do one data base repair and it took almost 6 hrs to complete! (I have almost 96,400 assest to check out!!) So give it a try before doing a reinstall. Good luck -Robert-

Try breaking down the search for faulty assets into groups such as "locomotives", "rolling stock", etc. with the CMP search filter and do one group at a time.
