Hi everyone , i have a problem which is confusing me im currently using trainz 2012 Build 47452 Content Manager 3.6 (will be updating to 3.7 when i get my SSD) , my problem is i normally i do the graphical design on a mates layout who uses Content Manger 3.7 and fully updated in build version 58414 , when i come to do the texturing for him there are no base boards displayed , but his buildings tracks and roads and trees etc are displayed. im really confused in why this is happening and have checked with my other routes i have installed and they work perfectly ruling out any software issues i have , i did wonder if routes created on build 58414 were unuse-able for lower build versions (im sure they not once build version is corrected , i just need to rule it out as i would like to create routes on build version 58414 and to uplaod to DS station for users to use for TS2009,2010 and 2012 , if there is any sugestions would be most grateful , Pete

my pc specs are
4.2ghz quad core
8gb ram 1333mhz
1tb HDD
2GB grahic card

running windows 7 sp1 ultimate with all up to date drivers Thankyou

As far as I know, routes created in a version of trainz can in most cases not be lowered in version to be able to be used in older versions of Trainz.
If you want to make a route that is available for TS2009 and up, you have to make it in TS2009.

You say you are on build 47452. Maybe you should at least patch to build 49922, even when waiting for your SSD.

I'm going to reiterate what Oknotsen said, I can tell you for certain routes created or edited in 3.7 will not work in earlier versions, and disappearing terrain is exactly what happens. Try to run a TS12 (49922) route in TS2010 and you get non-functional junctions, among other things. Generally, you cannot use a later route/session in an earlier version. I definitely recommend not downgrading to 3.7 - there are a lot of us who won't use this awful version - and, as he said, build your route in TS2009 if you want maximum compatibility or TS2010 if you need Speedtrees.

It's not possible to backdate a route from 58414 to 49922, there is an additional file associated with the route that is not recognised in the lower version, changing the build version doesn't work on routes.

3.7 has an additional mapfile.rlr file, 3.6 does not and the size of the mapfile.gnd file is reduced to 1kb when imported from 3.7 to 3.6, I'm guessing that the missing information for the terrain is in the mapfile.rlr, possibly rlr stands for Route layer? which older builds will reject / ignore.

Edit: This is one of the several reasons I'm not actually using SP1 for anything other than testing for compatibilty with it.

Thanks you two for confirming my thoughts. Now I can leave out the "as far as I know" next time :hehe:.

To add to clam1952 words:
This is the reason why I am building my routes in 49922, so both people on pre-SP1 and SP1 can use them.

Thankyou to all replies , had a feeling this was why had to confirm however does makes sense (however frustrating) luckily do have other versions of trainz , thankyou Pete
