Autosave stopped

Can anyone tell me why suddenly the Autosave function suddenly stoped working in Surveyor?... and when you go to save, you get that puzzling mesasage "Trainz cannot save read only file routes?" I have been working on this route for weeks and weeks with the autosave working perfectly... until about an hour ago. I start getting the "Trainz cannot save read only files"... whats happening????:(

I cannot help you with the autosave exactly but I have run into the "Trainz cannot save read only files" error. I have read (on the forums) and experienced ( in Trainz) that you need to save the route with a new name. then autosave may work again.
Hope this helps.
Kenny

When using 06 I find that instead of using Control "S" or the pull-down "Save" I get what I want by going to the pull-down "Save As...." and when the "Save As...." dialogue box opens just click on "ok" or hit return and it will be saved with the original name.

Cheers
Russell.

I’ve found that this situation only occurs in TRS2006 when working on a large route. I had this problem when constructing the Cumberland to Connellsville route in ’06.

As the route grew larger the problem started to occur intermittently, but eventually I was unable to use the "Save" command at all.
Before uploading the route, I converted it to TRS2004. I haven’t noticed this problem in ’04.

I’m presently constructing another much larger route in ’06 and the only way I can save, is to use the menu command “Save as” which eliminates the “Auto Save” option.

Apparently they’ve resolved this problem in TS2009, because when I load the above referenced route into ’09 the “Save” command works OK.

Regards, Joe
