Automatic Whistle

I have a layout using Utlimate Trainz, which relies heavily on AI traffic. Question is: is there a whistle sign that will make any passing train whistle without me having to control the train directly?

If not on UTC, will it be possible on Trainz 2006?

Many thanks

In 2006 you can place a horn (whistle) sign on the track where you want to in surveyor and it's invisible in driver mood. works very well. if you want the kuid i'll look it up for you.

stouthm,

I am intersted in the Kuid for a invisible horn (whistle) sign. I cound not find any on the DLS and I wanted to have an auto horn when a train approached a crossing so I modified a horn (whistle) sign so it was invisable in driver. However it appears to be a bit of hit and miss as some locos are not triggered.

Regards

Jeff

Hi Jeff, the kuid for the horn (whistle) is kuid2:60850:23113:1 and 23112:1. I think these only work in 2006. You place these on the track where you want the horn to sound. Good luck.

I believe there's a rule that's required for 2004. Not sure what it's called. I remember it being involved, having to name each whistle sign for a particular area. Good luck.

I used a different approach to the problem in TRS2004. I inserted a trigger on the track at all my road crossings. Named them "Horn 1" etc. and then set up a "trigger check rule" and a "play sound rule". I can explain it in further detail if you wish.

This works just fine, all the trains sound their horn as they approach the crossing from either direction. There is one small problem I have not been able to address yet. When I am in a train on the other side of the country I can still hear the trains horns at those crossings. Maybe someone can suggest a way to fix this. Or will the whistle signs mentioned above cure the problem.

Cheers David

In TRS2006, I like to use the Whistle Sign Rule <kuid:70049:20001>. You don't even have to put signs on the route (you can if you want). It lists all trackmarks and will put an invisible whistle sign at the ones you select. The horn sign included in TRS2006, that you place on the tracks, doesn't work well for me. Sure, the train blows the whistle, but it is a very abreviated and anemic toot, not a nice long wail.
