G'day ghosty!

Are those new SX cars? I've only got the ones from TRS2006, which have no interior. Do you know where I can find them? I looked on QDRTrainz but no joy, or are they only available to TS12, which I don't have (yet).

Cheers,

AJC

Bill, can I suggest a black buffer beam instead of the red one?

The red buffer beams were phased out with the introduction of the black livery in the 1920s (the previous liveries did have red buffer beams), and only re-appeared on locos fitted with shunters steps (and even then not all the time!), and the R and J class locos (note, most J class locos ended up with shunters steps on the tender anyway).

Zec

Thanks Zec, it's been noted. I do remember a photo of two A2s returning to loco after hauling the last broad gauge spirit (I think). They had red buffer beams. Besides, I like the red buffer beams, it gives the loco a bit of a lift.

Bill.

That would (I believe) have been A2 986, which had boxpok wheels and white (yes, gloss white  ) buffer heads... I believe the red buffer beam was applied at the same time as the white paint on the buffer heads, and was primarily done for excursion train use. :)

Zec's right, well, about the bufferbeam anyway...

I'm pretty sure that photo was when it had white/silver buffers, but said silver had worn off...

I've got a photo here of A2 986 in 1959 with black buffer beam, so 1959/1960/1961 sounds about right for excursion train workings. There were still a number of screwlink coupled/buffer fitted pass cars, and freight wagons, around the network at that time, so the buffers would have had a bit of use over a couple of years. The photos of excursion trains with the white/silver buffers showed that they wore pretty quickly. Plus double heading with other steamers...

The photo above also shows a lot of dirt on the loco, so it's possible the buffers are also very dirty, as I'm pretty sure there's a few specs of white/silver remaining on there...

Sickness benefits

Part the way through my first week of 5wks leave...and I cop a dose of the flu. Means I haven't been able to get any work done around the house. Instead I have been getting some Trainz time and working on my depot (between coughing fits). Here's the result of my efforts.

10N-WNowfinished.jpg

Looking N-W over the now fully textured depot. New depot offices placed in the extreme bachground.

11LookingwestoverCarShedfinished.jpg

Looking West over Car shed. Closer view of offices and surrounding treeline. Quite an effort cutting the depot out of the thick bush.

12FrontofCarShedfinished.jpg

Front view of the Carriage Shed.

13EastoverLocoShedfinished.jpg

Locomotive Shed and surrounds. Oil patches from those early locos still there.

14LookingWestoverShuntYard.jpg

Looking West over the new Shunt Yard. Shunters facilities and Rollingstock Controller offices on the right of the shot. Grass grows quick around here as the pile of left over sleepers has already been overgrown.

15Rooswatchingdepothapenings.jpg

A mob of curious kangaroos watch depot happenings from the safety of the treeline wondering what the humans are doing in an area once their home.
Comments on anything I could do better welcome especially with the experts available in here.
Thanks
Glen
