No thats not right Rod& railwayz, The tubes you are thinking about were very much thinner, if you look on the other 60 class garratt you will see two tubes with an upside down funnel affair in front of the dumb irons on the leading water tank. they were the ones that were for hearing detonators. However, when they fitted the snorkel to 6011 they removed those listening tubes. So this is something altogether different. There was also a fan fitted in the snorkel half way down the watertank. So you would not have heard much apart from the fan. As I said it was only ever fitted to one loco and that was not permanent

@ railwayz that is a built in in 2004 on the robe river layout, I think it up ends hoppers

I was lucky enough to see the last of the 60's double heading on coal drags round the newcastle area.

At least the attempt at the poor man's air con on the 60 was better than what they did on the 58's and 59's where they gave the driver and fireman a oxygen hood that was a bit like a gas mask but was connected to the loco air supply, what a joy that would have been breathing in hot oily wet air. I was told that a lot crews just took there luck than using this air system.

As a side note while the 60 never ran form Blayney to Cowra until perservation if they stalled in Carcoar tunnel the crew would not have be able to get out of the cab.

hi every one a series 3 fa x class would be good or a qr national would be good as well would go good with the clp does any one no if there is a pn 80 class under contruction

Colhad's 80 class while the doors are a bit funny is real easy to reskin and could be any 80 class you want.

I am working on a 80 class but its not high on my must do list and is on hold until my trainz computer gets a new power supply and being a warrenty repair I will be waiting for weeks.

An ALF would also be nice or the 45 with a chopped nose.

Email Ad602000 and ask permission and have a go, he will not bite - hard, and reskinning a loco is not all that hard - do a forum search its been covered many times
