Michael, that's a very nice looking Hunter scene you've got there! May I ask after the grass you have growing alongside the access track? I can see a use for it...

Thank you :)
Look up 'FMA instant grass', there are several versions with different widths and styles.

I think anything you find will be at VicTrainz

Why not help me put together some T, X, Y and S Class pictures of Freight Australia stuff and we can try and excite Tommy and Peter to reskin their V/Line Y, T and X class models?
I have wanted to talk about the beta X class there too. It needs some changes before it is uploaded
I have a Freight Australia G Class somewhere, from Uncle Rob. I will locate its address ASAP
Cheers

Yeah but its a bit out of date. I tried reskining pete N class but it didn't go so well...

its the Cfcla EL class,<kuid:51275:262976> by Williamg I worked on the skin but have no idea if it was ever released as it had a few issues with scale.

Ad602000 also does a EL

Pete's (ad60200) El is not so bad. However it sits too low on the bogies, and cannot be used with anything else . That is it is several feet lower than an S Class, and just looks wrong.
I will have to remind him that we need to fix that :)

There is nothing wrong this and it did happen often with the prototypes take the diffrence in sizes between the NSWGR 42(GM) 43 (GE) and 44(alco) classes

Hi all and @ Mr chugg.

I have redone the NSWGR 6011 garrat with the snorkel. If you have my other garrat loaded you should not need any dependencies

You will find it over at victrainz content release announcements

basically it was there to supply fresh and cool air in the cab as there was a problem in tunnels with ventilation of air and the main steam pipes for the rear drivers were directly under the cab floor, so you can imagine the temperature in the cab during summer

Who needs a snorkel?

Old Drivers that I "fired" for in my youth at Enfield told me that it was because of the length of the Garratt and the ambient noise in the cab that the crew could miss hearing detonators if the front of the engine ran over them, hence the snorkel ending inside the cab near the Drivers position. At any rate it doesn't seem to have been rolled out across the whole class so it can't have been very successful. Maybe I should go back and read the 60 class book again.

Railwayz

btw Pete, whats that building in the background behind the Garrett?

Well I never saw one of those things in working condition...however the reason (I heard) the tube was there was because the engine men could not hear exploding detonators in the cab, and as a result the engine could clean up a works gang because they failed to slow down in time.
On steam engines the crew had many jobs that might keep the fireman away from observing long enough to miss seeing the flagman. The tubes amplified the sound into the cab, making sure that the detonators were heard.

Am I right? as I said, never saw one in coal drag, although I did play on the one that visited Albury around 1989 And that apparatus looks a lot bigger than the ones on my Eureka Garratt :D
Cheers

Well by the time the department began testing, most of the crews suffering severe industrial deafness had then retired and younger persons with better hearing joined the crews. As a result the railways decided to scale the hearing aids down to a more appropriate level :D:hehe:
