Forest Runner: Once again, you honour me with your wonderful banners, I'm truly flattered :)

As for the QR C17's, call me stupid (You're probably not wrong) but I've got the wonderful C17's but they're giving me NO end of grief - maybe I need to go back and look at them, see what is going on (I think I may well have the older ones).

<< Sniperoo >>

Anytime Muliebuck... well deserved.

Greg's C17's drove me up the wall, across the ceiling and down the other side!! I found, that whilst the engines and tenders were updated to TS2009/2010 standards, the dependencies still use the TRS2006 versions. The way the errors panned out as well as how TS2010 + Content Mangler deal with it are quite bizarre to say the least.

This is what happened to me. I had a number C17's downloaded. Initially, I couldn't get the engines to show, but all the tenders did. Not real useful, eh. So after some messing about, I got nowhere with them and decided to start again by DELETING ALL C17 content and dependencies.

I decided to work backward by grabbing Greg's latest of the C17's - which are #935 (black) and #974 (brown). I just downloaded the engines and the tender and let Content Mangler deal with the dependencies. Bizarre event #1... the engines then showed, but I couldn't get the tenders to appear. I had a problem with the tender bogie which came up as error riddled (??). There are a couple of warnings with some of the other dependencies, but I can live with this... as it seems TS2010 can.

So I decided to mess with config file of tender bogie. Now, bizarre event #2... if I did this in Content Mangler, there was an error in the mesh file. If I did this via explorer and manually altered the config, it accepted it... although with the "LOD/progressive" type warning. I forced the mesh-table config to look like this - pardon format can't get it to work properly... a ">" equals an indent.

mesh-table
{
>default
>{
>>auto-create 1
>>mesh "tender_bog.pm"
>}

>shadow
>{
>>mesh "tender_bog.pm"
>}
}

Sure it's not right, but I have working C17's vs no C17's. Remember to do it manually via explorer though! After all this downloaded the previous ones Greg updated for TS2009/2010... #'s 802, 808 etc.

Bizarre event #3... on another machine I have TS2010 installed with no additional content - just an experimental thing I guess. I opened as much built-in content as possible (ie not locked), and then committed them. A hell of a lot of built-in stuff has the "LOD/progressive" type errors when opened with Content Mangler... but comes up as warnings when addressed in explorer manually. I don't get this program at times (???). Also makes you wonder about the older content built-in to TS2010... kind of inconsistent with the slash and policy Auran have adopted by not wanting to support older content... that however is another story for another time and place.

Apologies for the ramble.

I don't mean to be narky here but to have a competition there has to be two sides at least. So far we have only seen 1, Matt. Care to show us the other side of the competition??
Love - 30 at the moment :hehe:

hi forest runner

what version of trainz are those pics from?
i cant get mine to look like that
i have 2006
cheers

I use TS2010... in compatability mode. I've given up on native mode... and I'm certain on my machine, compatability mode runs better.

First thing I did notice in TS2010, is the picture looks considerably "crisper" is the best way I can put it. The sounds are also way better than TRS2006. Steam is a delight to run in TS2010.

Misterchugg: Like Forest Runner, I too build my small modular routes in TRS2010, as I got to agree, the textures, and general look/feel seems to be much cleaner (and I've become addicted to the stitched mesh track - alas the one I use has been pointed out to be a fairly mean resource hog).

DonZer63: Expect an 'update' for VR Kelpie Creek, as I need to replace the station and some other niggly bits (I was wrong, I admit it, station is definitely out of place on a country branchline, thanks to you know who you are, for pointing out what I should have seen myself!) - so the current DLS version will be obsoleted with a new version soon.

Now the ultimate question - would people like me to continue keeping the routes small and modular, and specifically only, say, NSWGR or QR - or would you like, for example, to see a QR and NSW version of the same route? (then you could use whichever one pleased you).

If you go over to QDR ..........the Green BB18 1/4 is waiting for you this version dosent support the new wheels b18 project but apart from refining the plumbing this is near finished....anyway check her out usual stuff destonation boards changeable run numbers etc etc

where did you get that qr water gin from and what is it name

They are, I believe, available from the Yahoo Groups QDR (Queensland Digital Rail) group. You will need to sign up and get approval to access the downloads, which are just beta's at present - and will be worked on when/if the creators in question are so inclined. However, the ballast plough is NOT a working, in game model but merely the GMAX mesh files and associated textures.

Gregcash's C17's and Dreddman's Evans class passenger cars I believe. The C17's are on the Auran Download Station, the Evan's cars - I'm honestly not sure.

Time for more irrelevant screenshots - first one, coal drag. Triple 48 class haul a rake of 15 wagons past the home protecting the Selkie Creek yards, on their way to the coal loader.

Second shot, is a preliminary work in progress shot, of a route given to me by Ghostrider, and retextured/updated/revised by me.

Hey Flewy69er, what is the Suburban train in that shot if you don't mind me asking
Jamie

Think thats the Millennium train model NSW Tangara type. KUID:54662:40 by cjennin

Thats the control car KUID, but I am sure you will find the other searching with that KUID.

Hope that helps

Trent

rbar

The red cars were built by dreddman and they can be found on QDRtrainz a yahoo group. Rbar the Green cars are the exact same model just reskined (with permission from dreddman) to represent car set 26, which wore that livery in the late 1960s to the mid 1970s.

cheers
