Australian screenshots

Oh i would say it is the same photo I bet you were thinking that since you had the save function turned off it was protecting you photos

Not protecting as much as providing additional defence. Of course, as the photographer, I retain sole copyright, and I've made no secret of protecting my copyright in the past. The law is on my side, thankfully.

Thank you good people, I have enough leads to d/load some of these hoppers and thank you Scott (Ghosty) for your help. What would we do without this wonderful and helpful bunch of helpers? :Y:

Another quick sneak peek of WiP of the LDP QRN locomotive:

still lots of work do be done like recolouring panels to match dirt/dust more evenly plus changing/implementing numbering, all other 3 LODs plus lots, lots, lots more. Probably still a few weeks away I guess. Some panels where the sun is lighting up their top, these will show much more brighter than these should be, as seen in the screenshots. Not my fault, this is how TS12 works.

The hardest part, to "boolean" the Eagle paint scheme into the body was thanks goodness very cleanly and successfully completed as can be seen in the pictures. Others do this with textures only but I guess my way with boolean is a lot better, although this produces more polygons and much much extra work in 3DS Max plus can be very frustrating as any 3D creator can tell you. But it does make razor sharp edges where 2 different coloured paints meet, as can be seen on my created QRN CLP Class (13 and 15), the SCT Class and some of my other current created locomotives.

Payware quality still at a Freeware price .

Cheers

different, wasnt there a country link version?

7301 was (and remains so) painted into the Countrylink Livery for use as the Meeks Rd shunter, although it was later set aside and is stored at Chullora. RailCorp hire 48 Class from Greentrains and/or Pacific National to use as the depot shunter when their own 48's are unavaliable.

Hello all,

Great stuff of late popping up in the Aussie screen shots, Well done to everyone.

@Vinnybarb, mate what can I say, simply stunning work - Hope all is well again with you as well good Sir!

Been some amazing content releases of late, I must say the NSW Electrics are top notch.

Update on my route (Port Levendale - Fictional Route), I am back in action (Took a minor heart attack some time back and been taking it very easy) and looking to get this beast ready for release to whoever may be interested. With myself being able toonce again get to finishing the last few bits and pieces I hope to have something uploaded within a few weeks.

Cheers all, and looking forward to seeing more of the great screen shots of late.

Thank you for the kudos. Re my health issues, well, these will never get better again. I have only been given....., whatever but I like to do as much creating for Trainz as I still can and as good as I can. C'est la vie....

Anyway:

I was wondering where you'd got too Trent and i am glad to hear that your on the road to recovery mate so take care and rest up, VB i knew you could Boolean out shape's and so forth in 3ds but this is the first time i've heard of Booleaning on a paint scheme so i'm looking forward to checking out the new loco's to see for myself what is involved but more importantly mate i wish you the best also with your health i hope the outcome is better then what i'm reading between the line's mate. Don't give up.
Cheers Mick.

Mini boolean Tutorial

Mick, it stands to reason when you have complicated shapes like doorways, windows, switch/electrical boxes on sides etc. like for example the SCT/LDP has and this needs a somewhat elaborate paint scheme applied to use boolean the paint scheme shape into the body. One could use a texture to texture that but how many extra polygons/planes does one need to texture and paint that? Plus textures by their very nature will look hazy, fuzzy, out of focus, jagged edges and what have you unless one uses huge texture maps. Which defeats the purpose I guess.

Mini tutorial of how to boolean this shape (only the front part of the Eagle scheme shown). One only needs the required side parts of the body where the shape gets booleaned on to. No need to be boxed with all sides covered like some teach you when doing boolean operations. Best to clone these parts so the boolean operation does not affect any other panels anywhere else, except the required ones. Click the little pics:

Just showing the 2 parts from a different angle. Important, to save a lot of retexturing later, colour the sides of Operant B the actual colour needed, in my case this was black. I could have painted the Operant A all yellow too:

This is the render in 3DS Max before boolean:

where one can see in the render below how the Operant B wrapped itself around all the nooks and cranies and thereby saving lots of retexturing:

The detailed settings for the boolean. Don't be fooled by selecting "cut", yes Operant B cuts alright but places its black painted sides exactly there where these are needed as one can see on my other screenshots of the LDP QRN on the previous page or in my signature pic:

Easy really, when you know how :hehe:. Sorry to place this mini tutorial in the screenshot forum, perhaps some of you budding creators can learn something new :p.

And hey, no more health questions please. As you can see, I am still here.

Cheers

Following downloadable timetables may be of interest for those running Trainz XPT services on the NSW north coast through to Brisbane and especially Murwillumbah in the 1990s era, since the Murwillumbah timetable is no longer on the Countrylink website. The timetable shows running time that may help you plan your own timetable. Also shown are the QLD rail connections for that era eg Capricornian, as well as the NSW Countrylink bus connections for those who have buses on their Trainz routes. Note the present day timetable is at http://www.countrylink.info/timetables but that does not have the Murwillumbah one of course.

The following 1990 XPT timetables are available for download by using the download selector in the **FILE drop down menu** top left on that website page
https://docs.google.com/file/d/0ByB-ppGeDyvwWW5IYTIxbGNFUDQ/edit XPT to Brisbane June 4 1990
https://docs.google.com/file/d/0ByB-ppGeDyvwTVNQV1pIS2ozR1U/edit XPT to Murwillumbah June 4 1990

The Brisbane one departed south again at 7.40 am in 1990 and arrived at Sydney Terminal at 9.40 p.m. The Murwillumbah one returned in 1990 after a 45 minute turn around time and headed back to Sydney Terminal at 9:15pm, reaching its destination at 10.35 am.

Very nice Patch, she should be another cracker of a route and should be another fine detailed QR route that you will put in your stride.

All the best.
