Australian screenshots

Forrest Runner, What scenery was used in your latest screenshots? Just looks so real!
Cheers

David

Hi David,

I'm just using Pofig's trees and shrubs at the moment. I tend to just mix and match based on what can potentially look plausible for Australia and the region modelled.

I believe Pofig's vegetation to be the best - that is balancing out appearance and frame rate performance of course, but this in itself is subjective user discretion. Trick is not to go overboard with the variety of trees/shrubs. A cluster using say half dozen (or so) different pieces of vegetation looks just as good as using double (or more), and is kinder to frame rates. It's actually great to see a lot of screenies in this thread using his stuff.

Forest_Runner, love the look of your South Coast line so far. I'm curious as to what the lights are that you have TheBigMan's Platform Name Signs mounted to. I've been looking for something suitable for a while now.

Matt.

Hi Matt,

I'm using the gear by vlatas, which is labelled as "k footbridge-x lamp" - where x = number. If anything I think it was an accidental download when I was checking out his footbridge splines and stairs.

Similarly I struggled for something to use that could pass for a modern cityrail station and not look out of place. Although not proto, the blue base of the poles have sort of grown on me too and go reasonably well with the signage, whilst not looking out of place with nearby seating.

There's also a lot of nice stuff being posted here from some picturesque routes through to some awesome content. Really inspiring stuff.

Thanks Forest.

I actually found the lamp shortly after I posted that. I took a semi-educated guess that it may have been by the same author as the footbridge.

I was right; how good am I?:p

G'day all,

I was pressing the button combination to hide the hud in serveyor this evening and pressed the wrong one. To my delight it sprung up a free-cam instead, and allowed me to veiw my routes in a whole new light.

After messing around with the lighting and environment, I took some screenshots and am very proud of the result... note; these are un-modified, un-photoshopped, raw 'Trainz 2012' screenshots, right out of the folder, though I did have to shrink them when uploading them to keep the moderators happy, so these are only a fraction of their 1680x1050px size and reduces the effect of the picture quite a lot...

Ryan,
Great work as usual. The steamer was actually out last W/E for Steam Train Sunday so you are only out by one week with those screens. Now have a few new ones for the desktop.
Regards
Glen

Afternoon everyone.

A couple of shot of my end section which is becoming finalised (I hope hehe)

Bottom of the screenshot currently heads into Portals - leaving me room to possibly expand this monster one day in the distant future

Finally pans out to 237k's of track running including 3 branch lines, quite a few stations, towns, industries, and what not along the route. Some heavy bush sections in some sort of memory of where I grew up in the Illawarra as a child.

It's quite detailed even out from the track, I am a bit of an OCD person when it comes to detail(I have named street signs on all streets for an example) and I treated this more like a Trainset, than a route in general. So detail is very intense in a lot of areas, though I still get 30+ fps in the most dense areas (Running GForce GTX480 // AMD 1090T BE // 12 Gig DDR3 memory if anyone was wondering)

Anyways, back to it, need to get this to a happy finally, tested once again and then uploaded to the DLS instead of me thinking of added a little more distance to it hehe.

Cheers all, loving all the screenshots of everyones work. Great stuff all round :)

G'day!

@Tanvaras

Outstanding work mate! Looking forward to it!

30+ FPS?! Not even my Laptop can acheive that with large amounts of SpeedTrees on an nVidia 3Gig 460M, 16G of RAM and an intel i7-2630QM @ 2.0GHz! :hehe:

Anyway. Great work mate!

Cheers! :)

Jake.

I am using Pofigs amazing trees, which I find you can have tons of them and they hardly impede framerates. He is a true master of vegetation design :)

Thanks for the comments all. I working hard atm to get it released, so I can share this route with everyone. I spend an hour or so a day just driving along it, which is a bad thing as I always find something to improve/change.

Cheers

2011's Christmas Locomotive, F182, sits in a shed at the ZR workshops whilst being prepared for a test run out to Sometown.

Later in the evening, F182 sits in Sometown platform with the full set of lights turned on.

...2011's Christmas Locomotive...

Looking great there Zec, can't wait for this one :D

Just wondering also with the 2009 Christmas Loco (your redone Z526) is it still available? as i cannot find it on the DLS and the link over at Victrainz is no longer working.

Cheers

Hey Targanon,
Great screenshots mate well done. I noticed some QR national coal wagons in your shots. Are those coal wagons available on the DLS I ahve looked but so far unable to find them.

cheers,
Koolboy
