Australian screenshots

Hi Stan, I thought all the drawings were in the uni library at newcastle, who have a great index for requests, but never respond. What I would really like to do a quick job on is the railmotor(s) that RVR used to run.

cheers

RVR with railcars? didn't think they had any

or are you thinking of the Tulloch cars that the SMR had?

Best advice I have read in a long time Forest_Runner. :)

Keep at it Mattm, I myself look forward to checking out your route (Once you are done at your timeframe, never rush it)

Trent

Trent,

Ditto to the comments re Forest's advice. It is good advice, the last two points particularly.

As for checking the route out, i'm not really planning on releasing it; at least not for a while, as i would like to do a bit more work on it. However, if i need someone to look at it later, i'll keep you in mind.

Matt.

I did, I told you that other things were in the queue and that I have to clear them first, I'm a bit fed up with locos ATM and just doing quick simple things. Last count I have one new(720) and 3 rebuilds(z26,c32(various)d57/d58) as well as numerous passenger and freight stock gathering dust and thats not all of it, so dont hold your breath.

I agree with much of what you said, shame the gimme pigs dont understand that. In the past i stopped working on my QR work because the gimme pigs were not happy i was not working on it quick enough for their likings and i should stop teasing and giving excuses about it and release it. Good maps and Content take time everyone whines when the items or map dont work right they cant have it both ways.

now back to the screenshots

Memo From The QGR Assistant Commissioner

Hello Everyone

The Ghosty; QDR Commissioner gets my vote for that valued point!;) . Any long trainz route takes time such as Kent's BVL, Patchy's Kingaroy, Dreddman's routes or even some of my highly detailed QGR routes, take time. So my advice to the young ones in the forums; Don't hold your breath just yet!

A Very Big Thank You

A little while ago I opened my email to find I was the recipiant of a 20% Discount Voucher towards the purchase of a copy of 2010. I was slightly stunned to recieve this most generous gift and wondered who it was from. I have been racking my brains trying to figure it out and although I have a few ideas, I have nothing concrete to go on. A few of my guesses have lead me in the direction of this forum. That being said, I would like to thank you, whoever you are, and let you know that my new copy is at the post office waiting to be picked up which I will do in due course tomorrow at the earliest opportunity. So this thread doesn't turn into a complete waffle after all that...Some W.I.P. shots from something I'm doing at the present time.

MountainViewShunt.jpg

The local Shunt train plies its trade in the siding of Mountain View Station.

MountainViewShunt2.jpg

Having completed the small loading job, the shunt now waits for the local Passenger service to depart before it follows on, section behind.
Regards
Glen

I don't know about others here, but I find that I get the most replayability from a map I've made myself. I do enjoy downloading other peoples routes, and taking trains for a drive, but as I make my own sessions, I'm often putting trackmarks, etc down, triggers and whatnot. I know the points, I know the length of the runaround, I know that you need to shunt these sidings this way. Much as in the railways of real life, you need road knowledge before driving a certain route, it's the same in Trainz some days. I certainly love pouring over the scenery and seeing some of the little details people hide in their maps (Mr Jones chatting to the neighbours over the fence, for example). I often use those maps for inspiration to work harder on my own "creations".

I come here to look at screenshots, to drive me to work harder. I don't come here to see "upcoming releases". If a route is out or not, it doesn't change anything to me, I just enjoy it.

It's a shame some other people can't do the same - they have to have everything now now now. They'll usually be the first to demand an item of content be released, and when it is, post up one (or no) screenshots of it, and then suddenly it's like it never existed - it never features in any more screenshots, they just want the next thing. Between the creators we have at the moment, we have a ton of rolling stock for NSW (for example), and yet people always want more!

I say ignore them, don't even reply to their posts to say "it will be ready when it's finished". Just skim past their posts and look for posts from people who give a damn. Sadly, they are the silent majority. I'll read this thread twice/three times a day some days, and rarely post. I always love to see the screenshots and read some of the discussions.

I actually stopped work on my map for a period of time, and the gimme pigs soon felt the bite of those genuinely interested in my work. I come here to show of my works maybe inspire others and see what ideas i can incorporate into my own work. I like the variety of the Australian screenshots the various railways that make up the rail network. TO everyone thats been involved in this thread and created some great works well done and keep up the great work.

Ghosty,

Speaking of inspiration, i like the shots that you showed earlier. It looks like a suburban line, am i right?
Regardless, i would be interested in seeing how detailed your town areas are, if i could very kindly request a few pics of said areas. I am always looking for ideas in that particular area, as my own efforts at even a small suburban route look very, well, lets just say i won't pollute the quality of this thread by showing my efforts.:hehe:

Patchy,

Love the shots. Looks like a nice route so far. Could i ask what textures you used in the area of those particular shots?

Edit: Question for whoever: I was just wondering what trees people use in their routes, as i am getting sick of bloody gum trees, and want to use something different!

Matt.
