The textures should be fine for TS04

They dont work in 04, the version number is wrong and there is no point the user changing that unless they use them on a layout that will never be released.

FSF,

Where can I find the bpp? Is it in the options menu? And what does Texture Tools do?

Thanks!
Mitch

Mitch,

You can find the BPP in the Launcher Options menu.

Texture Tools 2 does a lot of things, just read the discription on the download page. From what I have noticed so far, in some games it helps the handling of mipmaps and unsupported filetypes/converstion types. It can also give you a few frames here or there. Once installed, tweak the options to your personal preference.

Pete,

Thanks for the heads up, I wasn't sure on TS04, however I couldn't see any other reasons that would prevent the use. The odds of people creating routes in TS04 still for release is fairly slim. That being said:

Anyone wishing to use my textures in their routes for older versions of Trainz, you have my permission to modify the version number in the config to suit your needs. I don't ask for anything in return other than that you enjoy using them. :P

FSF.

Just my input to the forum...

These textures also don't show up in TC3 despite changing the build number. Might be showing my ignorance here but there probably still are quite a few people using TRS2004 or 2006? I thought that only TRS2009 supported the use of large size ground textures.

@FSF

this is not a criticism, but an assistance
here is a message from cache log in 04
This asset is built for a newer version of Trainz. It is not compatible with your current Trainz version.
Custom ground texture Downloads/kuid 465961 1045 is corrupted. You should remove or replace this content.
All your textures show the above. Even after fixing the version number to 2.4 it didnt show, in config your kuid format is pre 04 you need to use the format< kuid 2:xxxxxx:xxxxx:1> could I suggest that you download a texture built for 04 and copy the format of the config.

Your textures are in .TGA format. All textures I have loaded are in .BMP, although I dont know if the format changed in later versions(probably not) texture size I have in all textures is 128 x128.

I don't know what the corruption issue is, but this will give you something to work on rather than a "it doesn't work" message.

None of the textures I have loaded on my system use a "preview" file and it's not mentioned in any configs I have on my system. The textures are nice by the way.

hope this helps

Good stuff every Queensland town needs a pub (or 2) even the one horse ones. Nice roads too, most bitumen ones seem too dark, almost black some of them.
Cheers

If it's any help, 09 ground textures are .tga and may be up to 2048x2048

well in that case, it would appear you either need to make them for 09 or pre 09, but currently you have a version not suitable for either

Hi All

For those who don't look in the renders thread :)

This is part of a pack of generic Aussie houses that I've been asked to produce. Please note, this is a first test for the baked normals maps on the building, and there are a large number of errors in them (the windows are a separate map, and pretty much fine). These will be fixed when I get time to jump back into 3DMax, probably next weekend.

Zec

ZEC, This is fantastic news. I defiantly need lots of these. Could you also do a set of common sydney 40s, 50s houses if you can? These will be low poly right?

That would be the most helpful thing if you did. Anyway, this will be a very closely watched project.

(Like these)

Hi Daniel

Just a note on these. They are TS2009 only, so as to make use of a number of TS2009 functions that will make them give better performance. TS2009 is the only version I personally support for my content, and was also the version requested for these houses when I was asked to do them. Some of the features will include reflections on the windows (can only be properly done in 09), config based LOD to help improve performance, and specular maps if I can figure them out :)

They are relatively high poly, for the highest LOD (272 polys if I remember right), but the houses will have 2-3 LOD's so as to improve the performance as much as possible. Lowest LOD will be just the basic shapes, with no detail.

That first house certainly takes my interest. I might look into doing that as one of the brick ones, if the person who requested the houses if OK with it (I will speak to them about it next time I see them online). I might also look into that third one at a later date. Do you know the address for either of them, as seeing them in streetview would be helpful (send the addy via PM if you know them). It's easier for me to build a house if I can see it in google earth first :)

That's a shame Zec bout only being 09'. No so, I didn't ever keep the address', if the pics aren't of any use I'll take them down.
