Australian screenshots

By the way, where did you get that Sydney Harbour Bridge please, as I can't find it on the download station? I've been looking to move it, um I mean add something similar to a layout.

I'm not sure, but I think Bendorsey was looking for something similar.

Not bad for an evenings work, even if I do say so myself! ;) None of this is yet on the Download Station. Hasn't anybody been doing this courtesy of Google Earth via Google Sketchup? All done to correct Trainz scale as well. (check Flinders St station etc above)

Fancy the AMP building at Circular Quay or Australia Square (which is round) to go with it?

Pyrmont Bridge maybe?

Luna Park to go with your Harbour Bridge? (BTW, that's the Hell Gate bridge there too) The Harbour Bridge should.... ummm... should....... be to correct Trainz scale. Will need to level out the Harbour Bridge approaches when I learn how to.

A Centrepoint Tower to match?

Then, finally, off to the cricket at the SCG.

Class leader DD 560 sits in the platform at Lilydale prior to departure with a Warbuton bound mixed.

After departure, the train is seen crossing the unusual double track trestle across the Olinda Creek.

A few minutes later, and the DD is storming it's way up the grade toward Warburton.

Looking good Garahbara1! Are you going to upload those to DLS? they will help alot with my new layout I started on the weekend.

Not hard to guess what it's based on.

Not sure I ever finished this ? -image snipped-

I'm pretty sure you already uploaded the M/MA classes to the DLS a while ago Bear - unfortunately even though they show up in the CMP DLS list for 2010 for me, they throw up red 'cannot find download URL' errors if I try to download them - if I remember rightly I inquired about this and you informed me that they're actually 2012 content. But you definitely did finish them as far as I can trust my terrible memory. :p

A pity the real thing (MA 1862) is currently out of service due to a blown transmission (I've heard unconfirmed rumours the damage is so bad Transperth are considering condemning it completely, which would leave them without a pilot engine at Claisebrook Depot, as well as rendering the M/MA class extinct in WA.) :(

Red Rattler,

Sorry to lead you astray with the HGB. Seeing the two bridges side by side does show I was mistaken, but the design influences are only too clear. Very nice work on the Sydney icons Garahbara1, very impressive!

Was more interested in the Trans Perth version

Thanks for the very nice work. But it's no work at all really. About 3 - 4 mins each. If you can find what you want here http://sketchup.google.com/3dwarehouse/search?q=sydney&styp=m&scoring=t&btnG=Search (or anywhere else), or it's a 3D building on Google Earth, (will turn a pinky colour when you mouse hover over it) just download it, open in Google Sketchup, (free version) export to Trainz, (using the free RubyTMX plugin) and import using Content Manager. If it's off Google Earth it will be to scale, and scale accordingly to Trainz scale.

Perhaps the Queen Victoria Building to add to the scene?

garahbara1_20130814_0001.jpg

And a finishing touch of the Opera House maybe?

To give the beginnings of............................

Surely this has all be done before?

Alan. TOOT! :)

Surely this has all be done before?
Of course it's been done before but not much Aussie Stuff before now, What's the poly count on sum of these buildings Let's take the opera house for example ?. Sum of these look ok for say a distant scene but depending on the poly count.
Mick.

Rather confused by what your meaning of Trainz scale is = was under impression that trainz used a 1:1 scale environment but you seem to be suggesting some thing different can you please enplane this.

The stats/description that comes out of the process indicate:

Opera House?

The effective system load of this asset is 142884 polygons (139584 from geometry, 3300 from textures).

MCG?

The effective system load of this asset is 82476 polygons (16776 from geometry, 65700 from textures).

Harbour Bridge?

The effective system load of this asset is 52793 polygons (25493 from geometry, 27300 from textures).

Centerpoint Tower?

The effective system load of this asset is 8582 polygons (6782 from geometry, 1800 from textures).

Rialto Towers (Melbourne)

The effective system load of this asset is 6811 polygons (1411 from geometry, 5400 from textures).

Pretty hefty..... yeah.

Alan TOOT!

Yeah pretty hefty Allan but i think if your careful with where these are placed mate then they could be a great asset to complete a scene. Sum here have whinged and whined about the Ruby stuff but at the end of the day if YOUR having fun with it then go for it.
Cheers Mick.:)

Yep.. Trainz Scale. 1:1. ie. they are not massively oversized or undersized compared to other assets.

This was posted on the zig zag railway facebook page but through might also spread the news to get ot to as many Aussies as possible

To all our friends and supporters. Just as we're on the verge of re-starting passenger services on the Zig Zag Railway we would like to ask for your assistance. Some time last week, the low life struck again and, after shutting off power in an effort to disable security cameras, broke into one of our storage containers and stole a quantity of retail stock. Although most of this will be nearly impossible to trace, one line really stands out. The thieves stole between 10 and 15 brand new South African fireman shovels. We believe with a fairly small market for these items there is a chance the police can catch the perpetrators. If anyone on the railway scene sees or hears of cheap railway shovels coming up for sale, we ask that you contact Lithgow Police on 02 6352 8399 urgently with as much detail as you can get.....fingers crossed!

Whinged and whined? You're kidding! You're going to get a real sized, well detailed asset in 5 mins!

There's stuff up there that's pretty basic, if that's what you need. I think it's great. Works brilliantly for what it is and cost. You do need the pooter grunt if you're going to place that stuff all over the place, but.
