To those of you who are interested (even if you're not from Australia, you can usually download &/or these programs on the internet) the Australian TV program called StateLine (NSW version) will have a story about what is known as The Rail Debate, Great Rail Debate, or various terms like that about the line that goes from Broadmeadow station into the heart of Newcastle's CBD. StateLine is on 7:30pm Friday (14/08/2009) AEST, repeated 12midday next day.
To put it simply: Newcastle's Lord Mayor, GPT, Hunter Business Chamber, Hunter Development Corporation (HDC - take note of that middle word), some businesses including ONE hobby shop manager, & some other businesses are demanding the rail line be cut. Some want it cut further out.
