Auran/NV3 are starting to remove my interest in Trainz!!

Oh, absolutely. I've said as much on a few threads already.

I just found it amusing that people have the idea that this forum was somehow better in the old days. There've always been a lot of ups and downs.

chris

Well, I have always been grumpy, rude and obnoxious...
I haven't changed

Or we could set the proper tone, such as; let's try to help people when they are venting frustration instead of telling them to hit the road (not pointing fingers at any one person). :)

Hey, I was only trying to be helpful, if Trainz and the forums are causing them to much stress (instead of relieving it) they should cut that stress level and find something more calming..no sarcasm intended...(COUGH!!)

I have a policy of not even trying to help unless I'm certain I know the answer. There seems to be little gratitude for those trying to help.

Not like the old days
. ;)

Methinks some people have short memories and rose-tinted glasses ;)

cheers,

chris

;):hehe: Dear Chris, better that than nagging at trainzers for expresssing their genuine feelings, either being right, wrong, dumb, bad-skilled, computing-illiterate, sober, drunk (:hehe: by using too many spirits in rose-tinted glasses), difficult-customering guys or just asking to know, who knows the inner "spirit" of every asker!! -diffficult to know on a typed forum where emoticons are few and not very conveying-. The one I always understood is this  and it's one of least used of late.

Positively I like to wear rose-tinted glassed at this start of a new workweek -bl^^dy Mondays- Have a good one, Chris.

There were problems back then, but not as frequents or as escalated as whats been happening here within the last year or so. I see most of it happening with the FCT's working with DLS, and discouragement with the new restrictions placed on the DLS.
There's a line drawn in the sand between the haves and the have nots with snooty comments and personal cheap shots being made. Many of the "haves' are drive by mud slingers, who rarely post, that take cheap shot and then disappear until the next similar discussion comes up. Before 2009 / 2010 came along, I don't remember these types of threads that started off with some one legitimately frustrated and then ambushed by a few drive bys, turning the thread into nasty mudslinging.

I think if we can nip that in the butt without further pushing the OP away further, we might have more success deescalation whatever the problem is, let the poster know that we are on his or her side, (after calming down) and be in a better situation to resolve the problem. If the problem cannot be remedied, at least the OP will have a better feeling about working things out with a team support effort.

Using breaking in a horse for example, you have to let the horse run first before getting to a point for progress to move forward......so sometimes, let the horse run. :)

I can't believe I haven't commented in this thread already! For the record, I agree with everything that's been said.

Anyway, Chris and the rest of the Brisbane team, dear trainzy friends (-I regard you being so even though living upside down :p -), this is your home, your business and your way of earning a living.

We are customers and guests here. Rule your home as you wish and I will do as the Romans do... :p but there's always a thin balancing line between being straightforward blunt and clear and being unkind and unfriendly, as some trainzers usually show up of late. Yes, yes, I know that everyone is as everyone seems to be but pretending a little bit isn't very painful to one's intimacy. I'm a big pretender too. ;)

Yes, yes, Chris, I know one of your favourite sentences.. "we may lose a few sales but... in the end..."

In the end, you could not lose any sale at all if we all try to be more patient and re-direct someone's displeasure and anger into a reasonable path... not always coinciding with "we are always doing it right, and the rest of the world is wrong" position.

You can read every day that not everybody thinks everything is being done well and that seeing the nude king dressed is not a well-balanced policy.

Yes, yes, I agree... fortunately it's not the majority: if not, this business will go ruined in a few months. But... isn't it worthy trying to please those who feel things are not going so good as they seem to others?

Doesn't doing good business consist of pleasing almost everybody no need to go down to the servile position of "customers are always right" but to the most sensible "customers may be right"?

Please, think about it. ;)

My respectful and kind thoughts for you, guys in the Brisbane suntan summer from the rainy cold winter in Vigo,

The ever-respectful rose-tinted side of Alberte

Side note:

For the record, I agree with everything that's been said.
;)You made my day when seeing you agree with me too, Ed, good guy, even though I know you don't intend to :hehe: and no need to be so.

You have this person that has no frakin idea what hes doing ekin1972 "Once again my first class ticket is a worthless piece of crap!
The download station is full and I can't even use FTP." scream that its all Auran fault.. Lets look at the facts

Well, you are not on the FC Server..OR you have a problem on your side.. You sound like you think you have one. MANY MANY people here have stated they connect and download quite well with an FCT.. I know I do..Maybe you should check you are on the right server? (I downloaded 193 items last night at over 300kbps)

And as long as were are airing gripes :)

Question: Who thinks that allowing 1000's of people to rag a servers bandwidth (and the cost of it), the wear and tear on the server and its components, the salary's for the people looking after said components, electricity to run the servers, the expense of housing the server and allowing this to go on for 10 years hasn't cost a kings ransom in money?

This is what the DLS community has enjoyed until December of last year.

Now these (Sorry...) leeches! cry bloody murder because its no longer affordable. TOO BAD!!!

IMHO, I think Auran should AXE the 'free server'. I for one don't what the 'free server' to put Auran out of business. Your DAMN LUCKY they even give you ANY free connections at all.. (Mostly hogged 24/7)

I blame it on the new 'Free-To-Play' gender who have no Idea how much money is required to give them 'free! free! free!' ..

I have to agree with Euphod (such a perceptive individual), but I do want to add that ones perspective on the quality of assets must be heavily influenced by whether one sees Trainz as a game, or a representation of a real world. There are many "not so young" (include me!) Trainzers who clearly want realism because Trainz is a doorway to earlier days. I can certainly relive my trainspotting days with Trainz. Then of course there are the strategist/game players many of which do not care about realism but merely want a challenge in representative surroundings. I guess it really comes down to whether you see Fred and Wilma Flintstone as real people or not. Regardless, there are huge quantities of assets on DLS that meet both above viewpoints although it does of course require some time and effort to identify the creators whose work you like, but then ...... isn't putting some effort into something a basic primer in life?

 Colin.

It's amazing how a half second of time can make so much difference in our lives. For instance, Soret, one half second before you opened your mouth someone may have thought you to be a person that was not foolish.

Now you've gone and ruined it!
