Auran/NV3 are starting to remove my interest in Trainz!!

Its Sunday and one of my only days to myself.
A time I can relax and enjoy Trainz, but oh no!!!
Once again my first class ticket is a worthless piece of crap!
The download station is full and I can't even use FTP.
And even if I could, I still only 100MB even after following all instructions to stop this. All those did was stop the message I got saying I'm at my 100MB download limit.

Im starting to become so disheartened with all this mess known as Trainz!!!
I'm now gonna look at Railworks and give it a chance!!
Because this has ruined my sunday once again. Thats 3 sunday's ruined by auran!!!

One very very very annoyed. disillusioned and formally loyal Trainz user.

Can I check a few things?

Firstly, when you bought/renewed your FCT, did you remember to change your password in your Auran Profile? (you can use the same one - just make sure Trainz is not running whilst you are doing this) - also, try clearing out your download helper list in Content Manager.

Secondly, if it's TS2009/TS2010 you are using, have you tried an extended database repair? This can usually sort out the limit issue.

Thanks for the reply and it's 2010 and yes done the extended data base repair and all it did was stop the message saying I'm at 100mb download limit.
But to be honest, my annoyance is now way beyond that!!
All I want is the download staying to work when I need it and I've payed to have that service. I have now payed for a service I'm not getting and under British law that is illegal!!
It's such a shame Auran are in oz. :/

Red, what is your problem with N3V?? You never listen to them, ignore them, whinge and moan about everything they do

I think the only reason they don't ban you is because you're an older member

My FCT and thousands of others work perfectly well so the question is what have you not done that everybody else has.
I downloaded todays updates earlier via CM at 150-200 kbps so there's no problem there.

I've removed trainz from my computer as I want a game that is pleasurable and not full irritantance and annoyance. I want good quality paid for content and not free rubbish content.
Trainz has become hard work! And not a pleasure!!

I don't want to sound harsh, but you're complaining about something that is clearly a problem on your end. When other people are trying to help you figure out your problem, you tell them off.

I understand the frustration when things don't work out, but this isn't a helpful approach to solving things. If you want help, then either talk to the people here who are willing to help you, or contact our help desk. If you want to take a break, then by all means do, but there's no need to come back here and tell people off when they are trying to help.

kind regards,

chris

Having a great time with Trainz:D

I too have recieved a similar message from the download station saying "I have reached my download limit", I had only got two dependencies from a series of ten when the message appeared.

I too have a Full Lifetime First Class Ticket, however I use the (ftp) and "Save As..." link to save my cdp's onto a seperate computer away from Trainz, I have only found this message once, and it seemed to appear at the weekend, and I think it was a Sunday as I recall.

My first intention was to report it, but I thought it's only happened once out of all the times I have used the download station, so I thought it best to leave my downloading to another day, lucky enough I got all the items I wanted the day after.

However, I did notice that the Download Station server on the day and at the time I was on, was the most occupied and thus downloading was either slow or none existent, I think this maybe were the problem lied.

Here is the Download Station Server Graph Weblink... http://www.auran.com/planetauran/FTP_Status_Log.php

Many thanks to Zec Murphy for the link, information provided is from here... http://forums.auran.com/trainz/showthread.php?t=65643

Hope this helps

Thank you for your reply!!
But i've taken Trainz off my computer now. As i'm finished with it now after all these years.
I have this afternoon bought Railworks and bought quite a few of the add on pack.
It would seem that a financial incentive is what it takes to get great content.
The free content on Trainz is extremely poor compared to the paid content on Railworks.
And no more content manager!! A huge bonus!!
I accept many of Railworks limitations but at least I will get pleasure out of using its brilliantly done content and cabs and engines that match the locomotive. And not like the free trash you get with trainz or should I say not so free trash ya get with trainz because of the First Class ticket that does NOT guarantee access to the DLS as promised by Auran.

Hi,

I know members hate it when you say that you have no problems at all downloading (I have been downloading without any hiccups all day today).

But the thing is I only live about 10miles away from the above member, so I must be using the same server. How can the blame be put onto Aurans shoulders?

Cheers, John

I agree

I have removed trainz for similar reasons.

Useless FCT, Crap included content (new mk3 coaches. I rest my case), Content manager way too complex. Had most of my fun with T2006. Will the mac version be as good as the mac deserves? I doubt it as the iPad version has terrible content.:(

You just offended the people of this community, and a lot of them with the crap content comment
You'd better leave now

Yup, the Content Manager monster strikes again, driving loyal Trainz users away for ever. I wonder if we ever had these problems back in the no-Content Manager, old-and-downright-reliable system of TRS2004 and earlier. Back then, the DLS was located on a reliable website. No "what-in-the-world-is-that?" Trainz asset database, no database repairs, every thing was done the old-fashioned, reliable way, the way that rarely, if at all, had any problems. :o

Regards.

Yeah, 'cause clicking on an item and selecting "Download" is rocket science...

I also have to lol at the Mac remark...

O really? Have you used Content Manager at all or are you just basing it off assumptions? Content Manager especially versions 3.3 and 3.4 are very good at managing your content, you can even have them open and Trainz open at the same time. There is a reason CM was introduced in TS2006 and has been in every version of Trainz after.
