Now this Has come to my Attention alot of the Auran members ion here have been attacking people just for "Unnecessary"post and as one of the so called"Unnecessary" thread starters we keep telling them why we have every right to start this thread yet this still goes on about where this thread should go and why. Here is what thei should think abotu 1. what if we want screenshots of a certain place and we don't want it to go in the forum that they are "supposed" to be inif they want to attack us for the forums that have been made why don't they do the same to the forum that says NYCTA! Pics because there is a forums that the screenshots in that forum"belongs in"but yet alot of the members are cvallign the "Unnecessary" thread starters Immature kids so read this word for word then replay

What I think the problem is; is that people seem to think that because there is a thread (or a post) it is meant for them. and if they are un-interested in it. then the poster needs to change it so that they are. Which is not how the world works. If you don't want to see a thread with NYCTA pics; don't look at the thread on NYCTA pics. Plain and simple.

thi is what I ma saying you know how there are threads from Arizona, California, and New York and a whole bunch of post saying where those threads should be yet you have a NYCTA Pics thread when there is a thread for all subways and trams etc from all over the world

Reread that and tell me how that makes sense.

Brianna, this is no reflection on you, however could you please preview your posts first please, as I like Deelare & MuttsMooch haven't got a clue what you are saying. And yes, I did try to understand your first post, but I think you maybe trying to say something about threads being in the wrong section.

EDIT: With that second post of Brianna's I think he's trying to say that any screenshots of New York Subway should be in a New York Subway thread, or Australian screenshots should be in the Australian screenshot section and so on. If you are trying to say this Brianna, NOT true, as some on slower connections can't handle threads with say 1,000 pictures or more in the one thread, etc. Their is no rule stating that members have to put screenshots/pictures of certain areas/subjects in certain threads designed for screenshots, etc. If I want to show some screenshots, pictures and/or videos, I will start my own thread in the screenshot, or most relevant section.

But I would like to see a rule where only a maximum number of screenshots and/or pictures is permitted in a thread. For example, say 10 full-size pictures, or 20 linkable thumbnails, or if a combination say 10 full-size and 10 thumbnails.

sorry My English is awful I was trying to say that There is a Thread that is called NYCTA! Pics! and another thread that is for subways, trams, and anythign urban but everyone is enjoying that post but then the thread but the threads that were made for certain states are being told where to be put

I'm sorry, and maybe I'm dense, but I'm still having a difficult time trying to decipher what you're trying to say. I think the problem is that you're using run-on sentences with too many 'buts' and 'ands'. Such grammar makes it difficult to follow your thought logic.

I think he is trying to tell people to NOT try telling people whether they can or cannot start new threads. Though I must admit that a lot of people have been making these comments, I must say that I think it is annoying when you have a lot of threads clogging up the forums that are all for similar things.

The problems go beyond this and show no signs of stopping unfortunately.

Just a heads up for all.

The waffling is about to end here. For those that think it's cute, it's not. Many threads are interrupted here by waffle posts from a few. This is a Forum provided free of charge by Auran. Let's please keep the posts on Topic.

Cheers

AJ

No One is Against a New Screenshot Thread, IF

it is well constructed, not a frivolous repeat of another thread, and is well presented.

There is no commission on starting a thread. It is not a badge of honor. No one is keeping track of who started the thread. It is not a competition. Try to look at a thread like all those "dot-com" names; you don't have to own them all. Some members seem to be in a race to start threads under their own name, rather than for the content. Starting a thread just for the sake of starting a thread, or because you believe it will add to your standing in the eyes of the community at large is just wrong.

Now, when you choose to start a thread about a subject, you should post a screen of the subject IN YOUR FIRST POST. ANYONE can post an infinite number of threads suggesting a screen shot thread about different subjects, ("How 'bout a caboose thread?", "How 'bout a Monkey Deck thread?", "How 'bout a smokestack thread?", "How 'bout a viaduct thread?") but unless you have something to show for it...NOW...then it's just Waffle. The only thing worse than waffle with pictures is waffle without pictures. If you have an idea for a thread, but your sister is dying to play "Crash Bandicoot" or something and you don't have time to post a screen, then save your brilliance for later. We'll still be here. The forum is solid, it's not going anywhere...as far as we know!

Try to consider what you will be posting. You may be all giggly and excited, maybe you just bought the game or something, but when you choose to post a picture of the default F7 ATSF on a piece of track on a bare baseboard practically everyone who opens your thread is going to groan and mentally mark your name for future avoidance. You may want to keep in mind that EVERYONE HAS THAT LOCOMOTIVE, everyone has set down track on a bare baseboard before, and practically no one is impressed or even interested in replicating the experience. In fact, I would advise against posting ANY shot of any consist on a piece of track on a bare baseboard UNLESS you just made the object in G Max (or another modeling program) or have reskinned it into a livery that hasn't been made yet.

Certainly there are real artists here whose work is always a pleasure to see. Even they will get picked on....I mean...their errors will get pointed out by others who view their screens. No one is safe from criticism, but if you expect the community to support you, then you have to support it. It's no different from any other social group anywhere in this world. If you insist on posting threads like scattering seed, then you will not be highly regarded by the community at large. If, however, your new threads show consideration and are presented well, then you will be embraced. It's not age dependent either. There are members here that I always thought were closer to my age, that in reality are quite young. I never knew because their posts were always well done.

A screen shot thread does not have to fill a "need". You can make a thread about anything that doesn't break the COC. The Mods seem to support this, I guess it doesn't matter HOW many threads are started in the Screen Shots forum. But if you are posting here, then I'm fairly sure you want to be accepted and part of the community, and if that is true, then a little thought before posting a new thread can do wonders for your acceptance here.

In conclusion, BRIANA, this may not be an "Auran Forum Problem" after all.

I think that we are there to help Like getting pictures of the NYCTA and not to tell them what is wrong.

Occasionally I see a duplicate of the same thread and I feel like telling them off But think would it actually help just to tell them off?

I think what he mens is that:
If there were two threads. One about NYCTA! Pics! and another about subways, trams, and anythign urban. Then someone tells the poster for the NYCTA! Pics! to put them in the subways, trams, and anythign urban thread.

Is that right?

I beg to differ. I am interested in a thread like that because I can enjoy asking them what they like about it. (now if only there was a thread like that.)
You may want to keep in mind that EVERYONE HAS THAT LOCOMOTIVE
Sure everyone has that locomotive. But he has got the game and likes for us to be interested in his locomotice as well. So I say why not do that?

Now I see that now.

Thanks for taking the time to read my post Ben. The issue about the situation above (at least, in my eyes) is that you can post in the Prototype Forum and state: "Man, my favorite engine is the ATSF F7..what's yours?" Or some such, it's not really begging for a picture, is it? Of course if you compose a nice picture of the F7 in some setting I'm sure no one would mind seeing it, but plunking down a consist on an empty baseboard is mundane and lacks imagination. A screenshot is a composition, it's like a photograph, and most posters take pride in their work. Now I can give my kid a camera and I guarantee you he will take 100 photographs of absolutely nothing. A few may be interesting by accident, but likely none would be worthy of posting in a forum where thousands will see it (in that way, similar to a Britney Spears video).

Now before someone comes along and tells me that art is in the eye of the beholder and that, it's not the issue here. The issue here is that some posters feel they are being treated unfairly by other posters. Now, as I said before; you can post any screen shot that is in line with the COC, and if you want to post screens of the F7 on a blank baseboard then have at it. You want to be a rebel, you want to go your own way there Frank Sinatra? Go right ahead, but don't complain when others don't praise your work, or....God forbid...criticize it. Don't cry when you aren't invited to play our reindeer games. If you want to be a plucky individual and not try to join the group, then good for you! Enjoy your solitude.

It's not my opinion alone, it's not everyone's opinion, but I've been here long enough to know that it's the opinion of those that the original poster is feeling excluded by. If he/she was not disgruntled by this, he/she would not have posted. If he/she wants to fit in and be accepted by this group, then I am offering suggestions to help he/she to that end. If he/she was the lone wolf, last man standing, do it my way, then they wouldn't be here saying something was wrong in the forums...they wouldn't care.
