ATLS Traffic Stopper Problem

Hello all. :)

Recently, I attempted to incorporate the ATLS system into one of my routes. The system itself is very cool, and after a bit of looking around and downloading pdf's; I managed to get a suitable junction setup. The junction is very simple: it is just a traffic stopper in the center of one road (the road is connected) with a slave at either end, and a controller. All are set to the same channel (slave & controller) and the routes, phases, timings are all right. As far as I can tell, the setup is perfect.

So, with the perfect setup, is turned on cars to find that they completely disregarded my traffic stopper. Thus, I tried the road with andi06's roads, and the cars still passed without even slowing. I tried turning the stopper, changing the tracks, changing the channel, changing the roads, and changing the region, all to absolutely no avail. I've checked all the versions, and they are all v2 or higher.

Any help there is much appreciated.

And the last problem I have with ATLS is that I can't get the turn lights on street lights (U turns, left, right, etc.) to show.

Thanks! :)

The usual reason for cars not stopping is spline points too close to the Stopper.

Ensure that the nearest road spline point is no closer than several car lengths from the Stopper. (See instuctions in Stopper Dialogue Box).

The most likely reason the turn lights do not show is that the coronas have not downloaded to your system.

Do a DLS search for Username - Boat, remembering to tick the TRS 2004 box. Scroll down for the coronas.

Well, it didn't work with this intersection; where the spline points are 100 meters away from the traffic stopper:

(The car will later drive through the intersection; neither are stopped)

Once again, setup is perfect with channels, routes, phases etc.

Send me some pictures of your ATLS settings..... And where does the other rail track go to the right of the picture? You should only have one Slave!

Also, try moving the Slave a bit closer to the Stopper. That looks OK where it is but beware if you have the Slave too far away the Stopper won't operate. Think of the Slave as a Train approaching a Level crossing, (the Stopper)

Are you testing it in Driver? It does not stop cars in surveyor.

Well, problem solved; it turned out I wasn't testing it in driver! I thought it was something simple I was overlooking! It should be put in the tutorial that testing should be done in driver. :) Thanks for your help! :D

I know this thread is vary old now, but I am having problems with the traffic stopper, and would appreciate any sugggestion or tricks to getting my carz to stop! Everything works: Controller, Slaves, and the crossing gates go down and up as expected. So I think everything is set up properly. I'm using YARN road, road and track splines are far from the stoppers. I tried using 1 slave, 2 slaves, keeping them very close to the gates, connecting (with Track Eraser) slave to gate then to stopper connecting slave to gate and separately to stopper. All testing done in Driver Using T:ANE SP1 Thanks!

It's been awhile since I've setup ATLS crossings so hopefully this will be helpful.

Ensure you have all triggers, slave and controller on the same channel and are set to LCM - level crossing mode.

If you use two crossing triggers, I'm sorry I can't remember the exact name offhand, you need to set the settings to two in the properties panel.

If you have multiple crossings, each one as to be on a different channel, otherwise, things can get messed up. There are exceptions such as double intersection crossings where there are two lanes of traffic with gates and other places like that, but for the most part ensure your crossings are all separated.

The other thing to watch for is how the invisible track is connected to the gates themselves. You need to connect to outside of the gates and not directly in the front.

There are videos on YouTube which are helpful for that.

Here's one that was helpful for me.

My criticism with his presentation is the mouse movement all over the place and the fact that he makes up a number. Don't just make up a number value. Use a sequence that makes sense. I used one number range for one area of my route and another for another part of my route.

Another point too watch out for is to check ( in Session Mode) that all settings at the intersection are THE SAME as you set up in Surveyor.
You would be surprised how many times only ONE being different can stop the Junction functioning !

Thanks! I discovered I had the stoppers connected to the road incorrectly. Must be careful to move a road spline to the outside edge of the stopper. Then add another road between the inside (track side) edges of the stoppers, (two track crossing). finally move the other side of the road to the outer edge of the stopper. With everything joined up one can adjust vertex height and position. I'm sure there are other ways to do this, but this one (finally) worked for me. Appreciate your help!

With me today the problem, which I stumbled upon, was that my invisible track didn't have an invisible train on it, once that was put on it ran. I kept duplicating one that was working and couldn't figure out what was wrong, then I noticed the red arrow on the invisible track...invisible train...duh.

I thought I was the only one!

I had some invisible trains derail once on a broken crossing because the track was really kinked up. It took me quite sometime to figure out where the derail messages were coming from when running the driver session.
