Article: 10 reasons why you should support Trainz on Kickstarter!

Dear Tony!

I would love to do my part, if you would only let me...

Credit card is a 'no go' for me. As soon as Paypal is an option, you have at least two guys more, who will pledge.

Mick!

If one goes to their bank, and opens a secondary account with a credit debit/card, one can keep only a small loadable amount in that account, exclusively for online purchases.

As if you only keep $100 in that account, on hacker can really take you to the bank.

Also I don't have: Visa, MasterCard, or American Express, and would have to apply for a new credit card

T2 is going to retail at more than $50? Hasn't the standard for train sims (and trainz in particular) always been $50? Anyway, definitely will not be buying if price is more than $100 - i just don't have the $$$.

A: Hi, thanks for the money, here's your game.

*time passes*

A: Hi, I know I never really delivered 100% of what I said I would last time, but can I have more money?

Hi, I only needed one reason to be a backer for this new project. Over the years N3V have already provided me with the best darn train simulator in the world. Trainz is a hobby for me and it has widened my horizons allowing me to build and create my own world; or I can use someone else's layout and enjoy the benefits of both. Now N3V want to provide me with something far better than I would have ever expected. To all the wingers and worriers, ... Get on board,... N3V will not let you down.

980 odd backers support your comments Roy3b3.
800 more backers at $75 will do it 03 another 1600 backers at $40.
And there are still2 $8000 pledges left that would help the odds somewhat.
Come on folks back the best train sim going and reap the rewards.

Most "new" PC games in the UK sell for around £35, exceptionally £40 which currently is AUS$62 - $70. However you need to add to that shipping ($10 AUS) plus the likelihood it will be snaffled by Customs and VAT at 20% (= £7.00) plus Post Office handling fee (£8) is going to make that in excess of GBP £50. So unless N3V can come up with some means of distributing boxed editions in the UK without incurring all the extra cost (how about involving Just Trains?) or sell it via Steam at the getgo, doesn't matter whether the KS makes it or not - it will be too expensive for many people.

VAT has been around as long as Trainz, so why is it an issue on this particular occasion?

Really Vern, it seems as though you are scrabbling around trying to find any stick with which you can beat the Trainz KickStarter. For someone who says they hope the KS succeeds it seems a shame.

I'd love to back this but have one question:

We all know that the current version TRS 12 requires alot of resources, hardware, etc to run optimally. I purchased TRS 12 originally without fully understanding the system requirements. I finally got a machine that will allow me to run it minimally and enjoy it. Does this mean the system requirements will go up? Will I need even more juice to run T2? Or am I reading that it will run even better on the minimum system requirements for T12. Just want to be sure I'm backing something that I can use :-)

The important things to bear in mind for T2 in terms of hardware is:

1.It's due to be a 64-bit application, so a 64-bit operating system and processor are needed (Windows 7/8)
2.It's due to run under DirectX 11, so a graphics card that supports this is needed (the FAQ covers a couple of examples of this).

You may get more details in the FAQ section on the Kickstarter page.

Shane

thanks shane.n i missed the FAQ at the bottom and found the below. Based on that snippet I should be good with my current system. Which means I should be backing this. thanks!

The key aspects to running T2 will be a graphics card that supports DX11, a 64 bit Operating System ( Win 7 or 8) and a quad core processor. (Dual core might be ok, but we won't be certain until things are optimized).

Never mind the content updated old or future new, what we will have is an updated state of the art 64 bit operating system together with, from what I can perceive, the lates in video technology.
Surely this is more than an adequate inducement to support the impimentation of T2.
The creators of Trainz content will I feel sure be having a field day working with this configuration.

I can't support it. I cannot afford a new computer. At least not right now. I wish I could. Don't get me wrong--- I'm REALLY glad N3V is updating the TRAINZ engine and making it more realistic, etc. etc., but I'm reired, on a basically fixed income (sob sob story) and just can't go out and invest in a new computer with all the "bells & whistles" that will be necessary to run the new Trainz game. It's frustrating to know my computer was "state-of-the-gaming-art" when I bought it in 2008 (i7 processor had JUST came out) and now, even though it runs really great, I might as well be without a computer when the new Trainz comes out.

[sigh] --- I guess I'm just gonna have to hang on to my TS12 for a while.

Cheers, (?)

Dave

Dave,

You are such an icon in trainz content creation amoung many others no long list now but for sure we can find ways to support you when push comes to shove is that the correct expression.
My comp is like yours running very well and will run even better with T2 I am sure and if you need support to get things done we can and will find ways!
Maybe we get Ed back by that time and have our laughs and cheer ups on a regular basis and content of course.

Roy;)

I just backed 20AUD, due to my support and the two lovely DLCs.

I think if there are more DLCs in the 'get trainz now' opion, there will be more Chinese players like me to support this program.

P.S. I know some players are more richer than me.

Dave,

I've just seen your post (extract above), would you like to post your computers specs here and get some advice on how viable (and costly) it would be to upgrade it rather than replace it ?

Cheers

Chris
