Some interesting operations would be an ammunition plant. These take a number of raw materials by rail to the production lines. Most have a central receiving and departure yard. Ammunition cars are often assembled in separate and isolated areas. Most often, the raw materials are distributed from the central receiving yard to the production lines which are separated by a safe distance. Ammunition is transported to ammunition storage igloos, normally by truck, but sometimes by rail. There is often a centrally, isolated assembly yard for ammunition departure where ammunition is normally transferred from the storage igloos to the cars in the yard by truck. There are ammunition plants where just about all transfers are by rail, but I've found this to be rare.
I have an ammunition igloo spline on the DLS that would work well for such a layout, but I haven't created any ammunition production buildings as yet, but there are several industrial buildings on the DLS that would work well.
In addition to the storage igloos at the ammunition production facilities, most military posts have ammunition storage igloos for storage of ammunition for range operations. This ammunition is most often delivered by rail for large posts.
