Are these good laptops?

Here is the comparison using RailWorks -

My Dell M1710 was optioned out with the T7600 “G” processor that has an unlocked multiplier. It has a “overclocking for dummies” option in BIOS that has a simple slider to adjust clock speed -

By bumping up the clock speed to 3.1GHz I got a little bit of performance increase at of the 2.3Ghz Core 2 -

If you compare this screen with the other one taken with the same scenario in RailWorks I was able to get a ten fps increase with this situation at 3.1GHz. Of course this is not going to be a straight across the board 10 fps increase with the overclock as it would very from game to game and scenario to scenario.

Which is why when comparing performance on different hardware it is best to run a session, preferably built in, from a batch file. That way you get comparability and repeatability.

I used all default scenarios with TS2010 and RailWorks, all you have to do is match up the camera position in the screen shots to make a comparison.

The “batch file” method will not show if the user used the same display options or image quality settings so I wouldn't consider it a reliable example of performance.

I'll be happy to take screen shots from your “batch file” scenario if you'd like? I did try it on the laptop and the highest frame I think I saw was 58 fps. My jet log file did not show an average frame rate for the test scenario you created.

I finally bought a laptop last Saturday, an

HP dv7-2273cl 17.3" Notebook.
It's supposed to be great for gaming.

Is there anyone here who can answer my question?

I thought we already did.

Will it run TS2010 yes, will it perform as good as a decent performance desktop no.

If you already bought it then why are you asking again, install TS2010 and find out.
