Application Hangs For Few Minutes.

Hi,

I've just recently bought Trainz because I plan on taking an engineering course :3

Sometimes when I'm using the application when driving trains in a different view points (especially changing view points) the application will freeze from 30 - 60 seconds and continues to play.

I'd love any advice on this problem, thank you :p

First off, we need to know what version of Trainz you are using (2004/6/9/10/TC). We also need to know your system specifications (CPU/GPU/RAM, etc).

On slower systems, it is not unusual for the program to 'hang' while it gathers the content to display in next section. This is called "caching" and can occur pretty much anytime. There is an entry you can make in the Traqinzoptions.txt file that will show a visible loading bar whenever caching is taking place. I cannot remember what the command is though.

Chantal91,

I have the same issues with TS2010 when I use a route packed full of speedtrees. They are quite simply memory resource hogs.

If I use a route with little or no speedtrees, TS2010 runs like a dream.

I'm not sure if that is the issue you have, but I'm just sharing my own experience with the game hanging symptom.

Cheers,

Add this command to your 'trainzoptions.txt' file:

-showcachebar

Now, when your game appears to be freezing, it could very well just be caching content for display. I do agree that it could be the speedtreez. They caused many problems for me until I upgraded my video card.

A complete list of items for the options file is here:
