Im looking for a perfect way to record trains passing through a very large midwest american route, only freeware, cant afford some routes from content store
Though technically not the "american midwest" and still on the DLS, for a route with miles and miles of farmland (which might be good enough to fit your need for "record trains passing through"), you could take a look at the "Canadian prairies" route.
I've never seen any trainz content with malware either but there is plenty of stuff on the Internet that is archived as a .zip file which hides an .exe file inside it. Tons of YouTube videos of Trainz content offer a link to the assets as a .zip file. That likely fools a lot of young users.

If you have either TANE, TRS19 or TRS22 on Steam. Just add the DLCs to your wish list and don't be afraid to check weekly for sales
Steam does offer more deals when it comes to sales and specials than the Trainz Store "Sorry, N3V". I waited patiently for the Harvard Subdivision route to be on-sale on the Trainz Store and Steam won me over again, got it for a great deal on the Autumn sale beautiful route bit glitchy though
If you also purchase Trainz 12, it's also available on Steam. You will be able to have the NEC Wilmington to Philadelphia route
I moved it over for my personal use into TRS22
There's also a new North East Corridor beta route available "it's massive". The entire route split into 2 halves, it's on this forum.. Somewhere!
I can't share the download link, you just have to find it on the forums
ah, thanks all to replied, bc last time i almost had a virus when installing some route, i forgot the name of the site and the route and somehow i was still safe
