Any easy way to make a BIG route smaller?

I have an enormous route. Takes several hours just to go from one end to the other. How can I easily delete large chunks from both ends, and save only the middle section? I'd like it to end up as a 35 to 50 mile route instead of the monster that it is now.

I know I can lop off boards one at a time, leaving only the middle sections that I want, but I'm afraid I won't live long enough to do that.

Any way to do this?

Not that I have ever heard of, it is one board at a time unfortunately.

DEM?

Is this a route made from a DEM? If so you can easily and accurately crop a DEM before running it through HOG or whatever program you use.

If you've already started placing stuff on your route or texturing then you'll have to do it the slow way if you don't want to lose it all.

It's a route I downloaded. Nice route - just too big. Really big! I'm not a fan of BIG routes. I prefer 35 - 50 mile routes with lots of detail, where I can add plenty of interactive industries.
