Any API (or sort of) available?

Hello,
I'd like to understand if there is some 'official' way to make another software to communicate with Trainz (2012) in real time.
I have ideas about building some custom external controls (levers, switches, ecc..) based on the Arduino board (www.arduino.cc), but I need a way to interact with Trainz directly.

We could probably be of more help if you would register your version of Trainz. You aren't showing any version as registered.

We do have interfaces for this, but only for licensees, not currently for the retail version. If you're looking at commercial usage, feel free to contact us at <trainzdev@auran.com> and we'll talk about capabilities and pricing.

but I'm not interested in a commercial license, since I would use it only as an hobby (no plan to sell anything!).

I think I'll continue to use keyboard & mouse....
