Another question about tunnels

How do you get it so that the terrain doesn't show at the tunnels portals (it makes it look as though the tunnel has collapsed)? I have tried to adjust the height at the portals, but that hasn't helped. It seems to happen only with tunnels that I downloaded from DLS, the ones built in work fine. The ones in particular that I'm having problems with are the Tehachappi ones.

Dighole 1x1 is used to punch a hole in the baseboard (from looking straight down, you can click on a dighole to erase it).

Using the wireframe mode (set time of day to darker like dusk) you can use the terrain tug up/down with the mouse, tugging up/down on each of the 4 corners of the dighole (setting radius to minimum).

I have fix's that you can apply for Fred24 Tunnels 1voie through 4 voie ... they are great looking.

PM me if you need advice on tunnels

Yup ... There are all kinds of things you can do with tunnels ... Like changing the config file height to -1 (thus disabling the snap to grid did trench & dighole function).

You can replace an allocatable track with a known track.

You can lay a track at an independent 0.01 height above the tunnels original track.

You can use the KB HoldShift / Don't HoldShift keys to stop tracks from clicking together like magnets.

You can even use a tunnel bore that has no portals, and place a short segment of stone arch viaduct as a portal, or use static asset tunnel portals like FSP portal.

So that's what a dig hole is for - I wondered what it was.

OK I have a tunnel with a hillside showing inside the tunnel near the end. I can apply the dighole and the terrain vanishes. But how do I fill in the vacuum where the dig hole extends outside the width of my tunnel?

Thank you.

Tunnel portals generally only fill the dighole if everything is square to the grid. In other instances you fiddle the terrain, plant bushes, place boulders, use terrain splines, whatever works...

I strive for everyone to download all 5 of Fred24 tunnels.

I will personally help everyone to get them to work ... they are faboulous !

PM me if you need help !

Lowering the tunnel height to -1 and fixing the errors is easy !

Making any "Snap To Gid" tunnel ... a straight tunnel (needs a dighole applied).
