If this has been brought up before I apologize - I did some forum searching and came up empty.
I built a route which has a ski resort, and the centerpiece is cyberstorm's gondola system (stations, cables, gondola cars, pylons, etc - very well done - you can click on a gondola car and ride inside). After constructing mountainous terrain and installing the gondola system, I added chairlift splines, skier and snowboarder objects, groomers, snow fences, and appropriate ski resort buildings (some of which can be seen in "Winter in the Alps"), others from the DLS. Finally I used invisible track to designate ski runs since I could control the gradient, and by repetitively moving the splines points side to side, then smoothing, I could make realistic ski runs. Add trees, texturing with snow and rock, and you have a ski resort. In my case the ski village is accessed by rail, with the lowest of three gondola stations adjacent to the railway station.
Some of you may see where this is going. If you can have train vehicles disguised as driveable boats, buses, and airplanes, why not a train vehicle disguised as a skier or snowboarder? Then using invisible track, invisible portals placed at the top and bottom of the lifts, invisible switches and signals, you could have the skiers exit the portal at the top of a chairlift, ski down, and enter a portal at the bottom of the chairlift. The cab view would be the same for both skiers and snowboarders: a view of the terrain looking out their goggles. I guess to drive them yourself, you would be limited to DCC mode. So my question is whether this is theoretically possible to be done by someone with the correct skills (and motivation).
Yes I know its Trainz, not Boatz, Busez or Planez, so I expect some flack for suggesting Skierz or Boardrz. But you could have a route with a functional ski resort and I am a proponent of creatively pushing software beyond it's original intent.
