Am I unwanted?

It feels it. :(
Nah don't worry about it. It feels like a lot of things, but I'm not to worried about, just keep going and let the community work itself out, there's still a lot of things that trouble me with this community including now the really pointless thread about people being really tired of the same thumbnails being used for thousands of assets.... You can thank TS12 SP1 for that. My next thing with that is, Who really cares besides people that want to gripe and complain about everything they can possibly complain about?

I'm actually doing a bit of laughing at that remark... This is quite funny coming from the person who started a thread complaining about people who use the same thumbnail over and over for assets. I find that to be pointless, and the only potential point it could possibly have is too cause a fight because you want to see one. Perhaps you are the one that needs to think before you type as well.

Unlike this thread, Dave's actually contained a valid point. When I open a thumbnail of an asset, I want to have a rough idea of what to expect rather than waste time downloading an asset that turns out to be unsatisfactory. Starting a thread to find out if you're unpopular is hardly appropriate on this forum.

Are you unwanted?
No.

Are most of your threads unwanted?
Yes.

I agree with Dave: Think before you post.
If you are going to start a new thread, at least try to participate in it. Examples:
- You started a screenshot topic without posting a screenshot.
- You started some threads without ever doing a 2nd post in it. And no, I do not consider bumping posts participating. Add something, reply to reactions.
Give it some thoughts; maybe you understand why some people might get a bit irritated by you.

No none wants to make anyone feel unwanted ...

Facebook is a way of communicating (but I don't Facebook, cause it slows down my PC with virus, and malware every time I go there).

The Forum PM is a very slow way of communicating, but Skype is instantaneous IM ... Try Skype.

Skype UN: cascaderailroad

One guy made hundreds of pointless threads: "Who", "What", "When", "Where", "Why" ... etc ... etc ... and rarely did 3 people respond ... just a waste of bandwidth on pointless meandering threads.

I'm sorry you feel that way, Chris... I didn't think my thread was pointless.

Your thread was far from pointless. Items on the DLS using the same thumbnail or a photo (basically, images that were not of the model) has been quite an annoying issue since the DLS first came online. That, coupled with no description, really discourages people from downloading what could potentially be either a really nice or really poor model, which can equate to simply wasting space.

Superspeedmaglev, it's not that we don't want you here. It's just that some of us here are a little frustrated with your lack of understanding for what you may be doing wrong here.

Take your UK Steam screenshot thread for example. You claimed to not have known if any screenshot threads of a similar theme existed, yet you missed a pretty popular pre-BR corporate blue UK screenshot thread that was predominantly steam that has been around for at least a decade now.

Then there are threads like this, which have nothing to do with Trainz or trains. Threads concerning your popularity or other decidedly random themes have no place here. Those belong on forum sites that focus on general socialization. Social threads concerning Trainz or trains are welcome, as long as there isn't one already in circulation. For example, the "Ugly Trains" thread focuses on what we as individuals see as unattractive trains from all over the world. If you feel like being social, look for threads like that to post in.

Overall, you really just need to ask yourself how you think people will respond to your posts before posting them. It helps to read it out loud to hear how it may be perceived.

Folks, this is not the place for personal attacks. You can discuss but it must be in a manner that does not attack any other member.

Hi everybody.
Superspeedmagalev, with every respect i feel you need to think through the subject matter you wish to be dicussed before opening a thread. Think of how you wish the discussion to develop and be prepared to regularly intervene and add to the discussion if the thread develops beyond eight to ten postings or more than a couple of days.

If you should be requesting advise, ensure you post on each page to thank forum members who give up their time and effort to respond to your request, as it only takes a few minutes to post a one line thank you to the forum.

I have always felt there are responsibilities in opening a thread on any forum. It is the opening posters position to guide the thread and should it develop into a slanging match or go off topic in the opening posters view, intervene and post. That posting should be so worded as to bring the discussion back on topic and away from any personal attacks that may be taking place.

Thread openers should not rely on the moderators to control their thread for them, it is the opening posters creation and their responsibility to maintain its discussion and stability. Moderators are volunteers giving up their spare time to maintain the forum overall and should not have to devote large amounts of time to closing and removing pointless threads or those that have gone out of control.

Superspeedmagalev, i respectfully believe if you follow the above advise your threads and yourself will be far more welcome on this forum.

No need to be sorry, because you still haven't changed the way I feel about it. I personally would love to see the day that we could all come together and be the Trainz Community that everybody wants to visit and be a part of because it is the best community in town. Currently, my side nor your side are accomplishing this. We could accomplish a lot more being an appreciative community for what we have. Those creators that used the same thumbnail didn't have to upload their stuff at all, so be thankful that they did and put up with constant complaining about it..
