I am skeptical of rangerjacob's posts too. Poor word and grammar usage for saying he's in the u.s.a. I think he got hacked, by someone who is not very skilled with the English language.

You Know I'm Tried Of This S**T And You Can Say Something To Anytime You Want And Don't Tell Me If From Texas or Anywhere Else In The Southwest You're Act Like The People On Jersey Shore Because I Don't Give A S**T And Right Now If You Open Your Month One More Time I'm Going Turn Around And Hit So F*****G Hard And It Will Knock You Out So Silly NOW Don't Get Me Pissed Off
Opening those threads caused the attempted installation of software on my system.
Just saying.

. . . .I am still trying to figure out if he's the blue ranger or the red one though...:hehe:
That has not happened to me, maybe it's time to update your virus definitions. I am still trying to figure out if he's the blue ranger or the red one though...:hehe:
I read one of his posts when they first started coming on and since then I have been getting a very annoying ad. I have the HTML of a screen shot of it at photobucket but hesitate to post it here, just in case.
It pops up when I invoke a site, and sometimes when I move within a site, showing one of three or four different ads, but allows me to move on when I click "continue to site" on the ad.
Does this sound familiar to anyone? Is it related to the suspected hack? Anyone know of a fix?
Bernie
Edit: I'll post the screenshot if one of the gurus among us can assure us it is safe to do so. I just don't know one way or another. Again, it is the HTML of the screenshot, not the ad itself.
Edit: OK, then, Clam1952. Thanks for the reassurance. Here is the link to the screenshot that I have loaded on to Photobucket.

Does this look familiar to anyone? Could it be from the hack? As I said, it started after I read one of the offending posts.

I haven't seen this particular pop-up ad here, but I have on other sites.
Run a machine clean-up tool such as Advanced System Care or AVG PC Tuneup 2011. These will clean out all your temp files and even remove any associated registry keys from your system, should you have some kind of malware on your system.
If you are getting related advertisements at the top of your forum screen, this is because of Google's AdSense, which advertisements related to sites you've visited. Just the other day, for example I was investigating a virus at GFI Software's Vipre Antivirus. After that I went to the forum here, and had an advertisement for GFI on the top of the forum.
