AI question re priorities

Hi Guys

I have a scenario in which a main line branches out to both a Goods and Main both running parallel until they rejoin later. The plan is the allow the 100mph passenger trains a clear run along that particular stretch while Goods trains travel at their own appropriate speed. The points/switches at both ends of this scenario are defaulted in favour of the main line.

Problem: If a Goods trains gets through the first point/switch first, then it takes priority over the XP Passenger train at the other end of the stretch. i.e. The Passenger train is held at the signal where the lines re-join.

Any ideas why? Any solutions/ideas?

Rules. Assuming you have your AI trains on a schedule you created, you have them take command of that next block of track (or even that next junction) in order to keep its priority over the slower train. Once in the block or after passing the junction, set your command schedule to release it.

Assuming you are speaking of content you have downloaded to your machine from Download Station...

You need only open up Content Manager and do a sort for "install date".

That will show the latest items you have installed on your computer.

Rules. Assuming you have your AI trains on a schedule you created, you have them take command of that next block of track (or even that next junction) in order to keep its priority over the slower train. Once in the block or after passing the junction, set your command schedule to release it.

Can you please clarify that. I do not currently use a schedule (aka timetable) per se, but simply tell the trains where to go (using trackmarks) and how long to wait at each trackmark. I obviously do not use trackmarks for interactive industries.

Hi Driver Col,
You could put a trigger towards the far end of the slow line with instructions to wait until any train has passed on the fast line. Hope that helps.

This is an easy one. Place a "Track Priority" marker (pointing away from the junction) on the track for passenger travel just past the junction that is branching off the main line. Assign it a priority of 1. Assign the engine of the passenger train's priority as 1. The freight will already default a priority of 2, so that train will not travel on a priority different then its own. If needed, place priority trackmarks on the freight track as priority 2. You may need to do the same at the other end where the tracks converge.

Hi Roger. That really does sound like a perfect solution however, while I can find a Wait rule, it seems to only be based on a waiting period of time. Is there another rule which does what you are suggesting?

Thanks for the idea, but if you identify priority numbers as per your suggestion, then you are only dictating which loco should run on which track. It would not appear to dictate any priority re which one clears a junction first. Please let me know if I have misunderstood something here.

Colin, the rule you're looking for is Wait for Trigger. It should be on the DLS.

I have found a couple that might apply but setting them up does not appear to be particularly intuitive! Given that this may one of those "if all else fails ..... read the instructions" type of scenarios, I guess I should go into the Manual and read up on Rules and so will not expect any further responses (unless someone feels that they could save me a lot of time!!!!).
