AI drives the train ?

Hi everybody
In my world, how can I make the AI (I mean the computer) drive a train while I drive another one ?
Thanks for your help.
Duke.:(

Hi Duke,

Welcome to the trainzy world of rules and commands... ;)

And that's the answer to your question. :D

In surveyor or even in Driver Mode, use the commands to guide your trains wherever you want them to go. i.e. Drive train, drive to trackmarks, drive to, drive via... , load , unload, etc. etc.

That's the way to go. But... don't trust your life luck to the AI... a wise advice from this old trainzer. ;):p

Thanks for yor reply Zato.
I'm not sure to anderstand all what you say. My english is quite poor.:(
I wanted to have a loop with 2 trains automatically running, the second one respecting the yellow and red lights not to hit the first one. While in the same time I drive a 3rd one ( with great care) :hehe:
Do you think that's possible ?

;) Of course, but it depends on the loop overall distance. :hehe:

OK, let's do it.

Let's forget your train because you are driving carefully, well, :hehe: that's what every driver in the world says... :p
  • Place a trackmark (yes, that red triangle asset on the third tab at the track section of Surveyor. You can name it "Start" if you click on it after selecting the ? button on the track section right side box). Place it close behind your train.
  • Place your first and second AI trains.
  • Place a direction marker (yes, that yellow triangle asset on the third tab at the track section of Surveyor) behind each AI train facing ahead. This is to prevent your AI trains deciding run backwards... they are usually lazy and do-it-the shortest-way guys. :hehe:
  • From here, two ways:
    • Create a schedule by editing it on Surveyor
    • Give orders directly in Driver Mode.
Let's go the second way:
  • Go into Driver Mode.
  • Find your first train and select it; start giving commands by clicking on a small arrow appearing on a transparent bar on the bottom of your screen.
  • Commands:
    • Drive via trackmark --> "Start"
    • Repeat
  • Do the same with your second AI train
AI motion will commence and now it's your turn to show us your safe driving skills. :p

The commanding side is a more, large and demanding side of Alberte:hehe:

Ah those were times when I could command a little more... :hehe: but there was a captain who commanded more... that's life! :D

That's one of the weak points of manuals at the latest versions of Trainz: Slimness... :hehe:

I'm seeing now the glamourous 329-page manual for TRS2006 on my favourite shelves, first on the LE and offered to general trainzership later in .pdf format. Those were the days!

Now it seems that the trend will be by becoming a freakish trainzy collector again, buying that Trainz 12 with celebrities' signatures on and wait and see. ;)

[Edit]
Well, I have a solution for you... ;)

I usually keep every kind of document about Trainz... There was a valued one on the old TRS2006 website named "TRS2006 Sessions & Rules Guide" (-anyway, I was part of the Brisbane system by then! :hehe: -).

And now you can get it from here (.pdf inside a .zip)

Still valid, completely valid for later versions.

Well well well, very nice from you Zato (Alberte ?)
I've read the first pages, it seems to be just what I needed.
Thanks again. I guess i'll may have further questions later... as I said my english... I don't catch what Beattie wrote, it seems to be private jokes and that's fine. It's so good to laugh :D

Zato (Alberte ?)

;) Gone by that name during all my life. Alberte is Galician for 'Albert' or Spanish "Alberto".

Don't worry about Beattie's joke, just for old-timers and experts on how the so-called AI sometimes becomes ADWIL (Artificial do what I like) :hehe:

Yea I learn my lesson and I am now a million dollars short:( . Ok so a answer is you just simply right click on the driver of the train and you can tell the al if the route is set up to got deliver logs or you can set it to autopolt which I have no idea what it does beside just drive the train like the drive button does. Sometimes you got to laugh at what life throws at ya:) .
