After cleaning up a lot of remaining faulty items, and after finally fixing the continuous download issue with the Murchison, I gave TS12 SP1 a full whirl last night. Outside of the pop-up issues and sound problems, which N3V is aware of, I had a pretty good time. The performance was quite decent on my desktop rig and I enjoyed my driving session. I used the Gloucester Terminal Route which I've been working on. There are lots of trees and buildings, being a city and woodlands, and this really pushed the simulator.
I found that the AI seem to be performing better. Perhaps, they knew I was finally using the program and wanted to put on a good show just like we used to do when the big boss would visit at work.
The signaling seems better and the overall performance was a bit spiffier even in the built-up areas.
Now, if we can get the remaining bugs worked out, we'll have a really nice program that runs quite decently.
I think the biggest part of the performance issues I saw before, along with many people, is due to broken content. By repairing this stuff, I saw no more references to the faulty assets in the TADDaemon window. Without the constant checking of content and parsing, the performance is much better. So the bottom line here is fix the stuff before trying to run anything. It really makes a difference!
