Ads on the Forums??

I don't see no ads! :)

Seriously, you can block about 99% of internet ads, including malware installers, with a 30-line HOSTS file...and about 85% with just 5 or so lines. Browsing is faster too. AdBlockPlus is an alternative for Firefox users.

I keep getting this one on every forum page:

Trainz Addons
Find Trainz Addons See Where Other Aussies Go

Just noticed it 5 minutes ago, when I logged on.

This must depend on one's own computer or ISP. I have not (as yet) seen any ads and there have been no comments from others in the UK.

Google ads, been on the forums for awhile. I remember long ago when it first came up. It's unobtrusive, actually barely noticeable.

The ads are probably there in order to help fund the running of the site, which means if too many people block the ads, they may have to start charging for access to the site.

From what I remember with Google ads, for each click on an ad, the website owner gets a certain amount of money.

Whether they're selling ads or have been hacked, there are different non train related ads in the upper right, never saw those before.

My ISP server is in Appleton, Wisconsin, not too far from Green Bay, Wisconsin, so apparently it's one of those that read your ISP and adjust the ads accordingly. Unfortunately my ISP is a cheap one, so my email page is loaded with ads for girls from Appleton who want to meet me, which I find unlikely considering my age. :hehe:

The ads seem to reflect what has recently been browsed by the user.

Mine refers to car insurance and wheel clamping.
